This role sits within the IT Service Management (ITSM) Toolset team (Service Portal), delivering and supporting the Department on it's current priorities. The Department's current ITSM Toolset is ServiceNow, rated by Gartner as the number one ITSM Toolset of 2020.

The team follow agile methodologies to develop and enhance the toolset across the ITIL framework. You will be expected to commence at expert level technical configuration and development of the ServiceNow toolset.

Software development is a profession that is evolving within the Department, and you can be part of that change. As the Digital and Technology teams come together, we are looking to grow the profession and this post will be able to play a key role in defining and delivering that change. You can have a tangible impact on how the profession looks going forward, working across development teams and also working closely with the Head of Profession.   Job Description   You will be taking the business problem and translating these into effective workflows to support end-to-end business processes using ServiceNow's best practice tools and technology. ServiceNow is an enterprise platform that has the capability to support many business challenges by the design of user-centred workflows. You will focus on delivering value to our users and improving the customer experience.

We are looking for an experienced ServiceNow developer that has worked with ITSM, ITBM, ITOM and Integration Hub product lines. We are looking for you to deliver workflow solutions in line with product goals and delivery cycles, while working openly and collaboratively in our team. Above all, you will want to make an impact, which may sometimes involve challenging current methods.

Working within our growing team, we have new potential and exciting opportunities to introduce new features and functionality available from the ServiceNow platform. You might be working on things like improving the CMDB to creating new integrations.

As a senior software developer, you will also coach and mentor other developers in new features, functionalities and technology and processes such as agile development, software patterns and TDD. You will be part of our Developer group which ensures that knowledge is shared across the department.

You will be taking the business problem and translating these into effective workflows to support end-to-end business processes using ServiceNow's best practice tools and technology. Areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to:

Lead and coach junior developers in the team. Actively participate in all agile ceremonies. Work with the multi-disciplinary team. Translate business problems by building solutions and processes, supporting maintenance, continual service improvement, and new capabilities on the ServiceNow platform. Create design specifications based on out-of-the-box functionality and user needs. Providing technical input on the capabilities of the ServiceNow platform and insights on the preferred/best practice way to implement solutions. Be actively engaged with user needs in a technical and business setting. Technical delivery (including development, testing and implementation) using several technical skills such as HTML, XML, JavaScript/AJAX, Integrations, web services, SOAP, email, MID, etc. Collaborate across government supporting and sharing experiences. We would like to hear from developers that can show evidence of the below essential criteria:

Essential:

Hands-on technical experience and knowledge of ServiceNow or similar technologies understanding the whole system and take responsibility for teaching this to others. Experience of using web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C#, .NET, ASP.NET, HTML, XML, Angular JS, Bootstrap. Knowledge of technical components such as API's, LDAP, VPN, SSL, SSO, Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) and other such technologies. Experience of working in scrum/agile environment. Proactively keeps ServiceNow skills current. Take responsibility for platform security It would be advantageous if you could also demonstrate the below Desirable criteria: Certified ServiceNow Advanced Administrator Certified ServiceNow Developer ServiceNow Product line certification for example, GRC, ITSM fundamentals, ITBM, ITOM, Integration Hub, Service Portal Designer. Certified in ITIL V3 Foundation Desirable criteria will only be assessed in the event of a tie break situation to make an informed decision.
