The PMO Senior Officer role sits within the central PMO team and provides support to the Core PMO team (Head of PMO, PMO Manager & PMO Support Officer) in running programme-wide PMO processes and maintaining central project information, reporting and metrics. They should utilise project information to identify cross-cutting opportunities to resolve issues and bolster delivery.Client DetailsOne of the highest priorities for the Civil Service is improving commercial capability across Government, a priority being driven by the Commercial & Contract Management Capability Programme. Annual central government commercial spend on goods and services is c.£50bn and if you include the wider public sector this figure is almost £300bn - even the smallest improvements in capability can unlock massive value across the system.DescriptionSupporting the Core PMO in ensuring that the programme is being run effectively and delivers anticipated benefits. This includes the production of programme plans, reporting for boards, assurance activities and corporate reporting
Ensuring robust and credible plans are in place for key projects, with clear milestones and critical path
Reporting and assurance on programme and project progress and status to appropriate stakeholders - ensuring strong controlled delivery
Supporting the Core PMO on the programme risk and issue management process and within allocated projects, as appropriate
Understanding the different programme and project dependencies and supporting the management of these
Governance & Reporting Landscape - Understanding and communicating the organisation's governance pathways, supporting the appropriate use of boards to ensure these are timely and effective
Supporting the Head of PMO in implementing the Benefits Realisation Strategy for commercial capability - working across internal teams and key stakeholders to ensure that capability improvements can be credibly evidenced
Line management, performance management and pastoral care for one direct report (PMO Support Officer)ProfileEssentialSignificant programme and project management experience - including experience of planning and risk and issue management
Ability to produce and maintain high quality programme and project information and reporting
Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills - confident, engaging and credible with a range of diverse stakeholders
Ability to work flexibly across a large programme/business - effectively managing numerous priorities
Practical experience of Benefits Realisation Management
Confident working with and managing data, plus able to explain complex data/information simply and to identify emerging trends/issues
Strong IT skills, with experience of presenting, and using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and/or industry equivalentsDesirableA recognised PPM qualification (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, MoP)
Experience in matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams
Experience of working in a PMO for a large-scale transformation programme, preferably within Government
Hands-on experience of digital projects and implementation methodologies
