Help us create technology for millions

Robotics, machine learning, cloud technology. Just a few examples of the innovative technology we invest up to £2bn in each year. And it's no wonder. We're the UK's largest digital bank, serving over 25 million customers, with 17.4 million of them being active online users. And due to our commitment to technological transformation, in 2020 we were named Euromoney's Best Digital Bank in Western Europe.

With each new development, we need to remain laser-focused on our customers and their changing needs. And that's where our Software Engineers come in. Their role is to help us in our mission to build the bank of the future, by developing software and services that improve people's banking experiences.

Is our Software Engineering graduate scheme for you?

If you're passionate about technology and you love playing with code, Software Engineering could be for you.

Our Software Engineers are collaborative by nature. Working within a specific business area, they're transforming banking to meet our customers' needs and support the UK's economic recovery. As well as being strong communicators and great team players, they're keen to always keep learning. If that sounds like something you can relate to, this is the scheme for you.

What you'll learn on the Software Engineering graduate scheme

Over two years, you'll gain a fantastic insight into the variety of software engineering roles and opportunities we offer.

You'll join a different team on each of your three rotations and experience a diverse range of projects. You could be working on large-scale projects, writing code in different languages and creating DevOps pipelines, building new features for our mobile app or creating a robot that automatically restores our core banking services.

Whatever the challenge, you'll learn about using agile and waterfall methodologies, and see first-hand the difference your contribution can make when you work as part of a collaborative team.

Supported by your Software Engineering Lead, you'll have the opportunity to take up extra learning - such as cloud training and certification courses. You'll also have the chance to network with other engineers at our hackathons, which are sponsored by partners such as Google, Microsoft and IBM.

As well as kickstarting your career, this graduate scheme is designed to help you grow in an area you really enjoy.

Is this for you?

What you need to apply

A 2:2 degree or above in any discipline from any university, and PhD and Masters students are also welcome.
