This globally recognised brand is seeking a Commercial Project Manager to join their team. They are a household name and strive for excellence and innovation.
The Commercial Project manager is responsible for maximising the company's sales and profitability through accurately executed contracts & cost opportunities, whilst minimising any risk and working capital.
This is a hybrid role that will allow part working from their offices in Burnley and part remote
The below is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation
- Commercially manage multiple projects from receipt of award until final account stage and in conjunction with Project Delivery Manager, assume responsibility for delivery of the expected GM % rate
- Review and interpret contracts ensuring compliance and with the aim to ensure maximum potential is realised
- Review commercial documents, including applications & invoices, raising and submit variation orders for the client in agreement in accordance with the contract
- Build positive relationships with customers to improve opportunities of repeat business and additional scopes
- Support the maintenance of receivables accounts, resolving any disputes with invoices in a timely manner, handling negotiation to keep payments in line with terms
- Review weekly site reports, updating forecast in preparation for reporting
- Prepare & populate revenue, revenue accruals, reserves to the project cost account on a monthly basis ensuring Revenue Recognition policy is followed, with support from Finance if any clarification is required. Ensure a summary of the position of each contract is prepared (Revenue Recognition | Unbilled Revenue | Deferred Revenue) providing explanation of any variances to forecast for revenue during the month end close process
- Undertake detailed formal project reviews monthly to understand and explain profitability compared to bid and forecast, to seek out opportunities/ risks but also provide feedback to project delivery and proposals teams to take decisive action to mitigate any overspend/ provide accurate pricing. Present project profitability to Senior Management Team monthly
- Support in standardisation of processes in commercial function
Education
- Graduate/Degree qualified
- Quantity Surveyor (Desirable)
Work Experience
- Background in commercial is essential | construction is preferred
- Previous experience of managing a multimillion dollar P&L
- Contracts experience
- Forecasting experience
- Administration background
