Staff and students come together from different fields to learn, innovate, collaborate and help create a better future.DescriptionInformation Compliance Specialist - £34304 - £40927 Job Function/Purpose:Reporting to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and working in a small and busy Information Compliance team, the role holder will undertake a range of data protection-related duties, with a specific focus on embedding data protection by design and by default, ensuring compliance and meeting accountability obligations for new and existing projects, research, services and systems. The role holder will also review and improve practices for existing data processing and records management activities. Tasks will include management of Data Protection Impact Assessments, drafting and reviewing privacy notices, reviewing data sharing agreements, undertaking departmental audits, and providing expert advice to colleagues across the University. The role holder will also assist with the development of information policy and will assist with the implementation of policies, once approved. Day to day data protection and other compliance work, such as responding to suspected breaches and managing enquiries or data requests, is managed elsewhere by the team and is unlikely to form a significant part of this role. The role holder will however be expected to provide cover for colleagues and will respond to emerging data protection needs as identified by the DPO.
