This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to play a key role working with a leading team of technologists on a variety of projects that will shape the CMA's understanding of the key issues and opportunities facing data and technology markets.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) works to promote competition for the benefit of consumers across all sectors of the UK economy. In an increasingly digitalised world, the markets we regulate are rapidly evolving. To that end, the CMA is now recruiting for its Data, Technology and Analytics (DaTA) unit, who provide the CMA with technological understanding and expertise, such as investigating algorithms and how they can reduce competition and harm consumers.

The position of Project Manager, Data Science, will form a key part of the DaTA unit, working on projects, using a variety of project management methods, including Agile and waterfall, that will help the CMA to become a thought leader in the space of technology markets and digital competition.

Their key responsibilities will include:

Ensuring projects are scoped clearly and resourced appropriately, identifying the people/skills/resources that are needed

Taking the lead in driving projects forward, devising and maintaining the project plan

Recommending and using the methodology appropriate for projects and using digital tools such as Microsoft Excel, Project and Planner as required

Drafting correspondence and key project documents

Developing and maintaining a stakeholder management system

The ideal candidate will need experience of successfully delivering projects (preferably Agile, digital projects and events) with experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and delivering results within challenging timeframes with limited resources.

They will also need the ability to use a range of project management methods, in particular Agile methods, and adapt to the needs of individual projects while applying suitable governance and managing risk.

Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders and advising and influencing senior leaders is equally important.

In return the CMA is a hugely diverse, rewarding and stimulating place to work - an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee assistance programme and favourable consideration of flexible working.

Closing date for applications: 11:55 pm on Monday 8th November 2021.

The CMA is an accredited Disability Confident Employer and are Stonewall Diversity Champions. As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds and recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in the Civil Service Commission's recruitment principles.
