Bring new tech to ONR - so we can perform at our best

The challenge

Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an evolving public corporation. Essentially, we're responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. With such an important job, modern, fit-for-purpose systems are vital. As Service Transition and Change Lead, you'll have the key task of introducing a growing list of exciting new tech into our fast-paced organisation.

The role

In this newly created role, you'll be at the heart of a function that's set to grow and expand. Your task will be to take new and improved services, and to guide their journey into everyday BAU use. It's a complex and interesting role where you'll need to manage the service transition lifecycle, while working closely with stakeholders, including third parties. People skills will prove essential, as you deliver change in a sustainable way, with minimal disruption.

The person

This is a chance not just to set the standard for IT project delivery, but to design the team that will manage service transition and change. With this kind of responsibility, you'll need an ITIL Foundation V4 qualification (or equivalent) and tried and tested knowledge. We're looking for extensive experience of planning and transitioning IT services into Business As Usual IT operations, plus a proven ability to deliver projects using the project development lifecycle. You'll also need the energy and communication skills to drive progress and define requirements.

In effect, you'll be the link between the IT department and the wider business. It's therefore vital that you're approachable, collaborative and able to build relationships. Energised by the challenge of delivering at pace, you'll thrive in a fast-moving environment and enjoy the autonomy that comes with a first-of-its-kind role at ONR.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £41,005 - £49,005 plus a London Weighting allowance of £4,052 (if applicable). Furthermore, you'll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you'll receive a generous holiday entitlement.

About us

ONR is a Public Corporation with a mission to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds with specialist inspectors to deliver our core business including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they're involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider international nuclear community.
