The Position

The Falkland Islands Government has an ambitious capital programme to deliver the aims of the Islands' Plan.  Development & Commercial services has a broad range of services and functions, including delivery of major projects such as a new port for the Falkland Islands; Programme Management; Planning & Building Services; Procurement; Stanley Leisure Centre; the Falkland Islands Government Air Service; Courts Administration and management of contracts for critical services such as Government ICT, Telecommunications, Commercial Aviation, TV & Radio Services and the Ferry & Coastal Shipping Service.

Reporting to the Director of Development and Commercial Services, your role will be varied and you must be able to support the Director in successfully delivering the Directorate's major projects, budgets and public services, as well as providing programme management for the Government's Capital Programme. You will also be responsible for making sure that the directorate operates within the Government's policies and strategies, to achieve the objectives and performance standards set for it. This is a challenging role, with successful delivery of Government projects and services a critical focus.

The Person

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a major projects and programmes, General or Construction Management background, who can demonstrate a strong track record of managing and delivering large-scale, high-profile, capital development projects to high standard within budget and agreed timescales, using recognised project management approaches. Experience of leading a Government Major Projects Portfolio would be advantageous. Experience of management of public sector services would also be advantageous.

The Package

2 years Fixed term contract, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.

Starting Salary £50,771 - £76,209 per annum starting salaries will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract.

30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave).

Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.

Flights Package for you and your dependents, including mid-term return flight home.

Government Housing for rent at a subsidised rate and a starter pack to help you settle in.

Please note, successful applicants with Falkland Islands Status/PRP will be employed on local terms and conditions.
