Location: Remote / flexible with access to Bristol studio.

Our mission is to build a new platform to bring storytelling into the 21st century and this role is critical in shaping the technology strategy and team to develop it.

Over the last two years Fictioneers have developed the MUST platform, which allows storytellers to create interactive narrative experiences delivered across multiple media types in both physical and virtual domains.

MUST was first used to deliver and orchestrate "Wallace and Gromit: The big fix up", an multi award winning real-time storytelling experience created in collaboration with Aardman Animations.

As we continue on our quest to develop the platform further, we are looking for a skilled Senior Software Engineer.  This is an exciting time to join the team and contribute directly to the future of the MUST platform as we take it to the next level in its maturity and capability.

About the role:

This opportunity will see you join our small and distributed agile engineering team at a pivotal stage of growth as we refine our MVP into an enterprise ready SAAS platform.

As a senior member of the team you will contribute to the wider architecture design of the platform and internal systems, lead discussions to find elegant solutions to complicated problems, review colleagues' work and champion best practices across our codebase.

About you:

We are looking for a highly motivated and curious problem solver to work as part of our team in delivering the full stack capability of our rapidly evolving platform.

You should be interested in new and emerging technologies, be able to apply language agnostic best practices to our codebase, and strike the right balance between perfection and delivery.

You must have:

Deep knowledge of modern JavaScript and Python

Expertise using Vue and VueX (or similar) to build complex single page applications

Understanding of cloud services and serverless architectures (GCP / AWS)

Well versed in industry best practice around personal data policy compliance and security standards

Advocate of continuous integration and test driven development

Ideally also:

Statecharts/Finite State Machines

Python web frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask)

NoSQL Databases (Firestore / Google Cloud Datastore)

Containerisation and Docker

Typescript

Previous experience working with SAAS startup
