Our mission is to build a new platform to bring storytelling into the 21st century and this role is critical in shaping the technology strategy and team to develop it.

Over the last two years Fictioneers have developed the MUST platform, which allows storytellers to create interactive narrative experiences delivered across multiple media types in both physical and virtual domains.

MUST was first used to deliver and orchestrate "Wallace and Gromit: The big fix up" , an multi award winning real-time storytelling experience created in collaboration with Aardman Animations.

As we continue on our quest to develop the platform further, we are looking for a skilled Frontend Software Engineer.  This is an exciting time to join the team and contribute directly to the future of the MUST platform as we take it to the next level in its maturity and capability.

About the role:

This opportunity will see you join our small and distributed engineering team at a pivotal stage of growth as we refine our MVP into an enterprise ready SAAS platform.

You will take ownership over the design and development of new features, help clients integrate with our APIs and services, and collaborate with the wider cross functional team to continuously improve our ways of working.

We are a remote first team but we do have a studio space in Bristol.

About you:

We are looking for a highly motivated and curious problem solver to make a significant contribution to our rapidly evolving product.

You should be interested in new and emerging technologies, be able to apply language agnostic best practices to our codebase, and strike the right balance between perfection and delivery.

You must have:

Industry experience using HTML/CSS/JavaScript

Vue (or similar UI Frameworks)

VueX (or similar state management libraries)

Understanding of industry best practice around code quality and security

Continuous Integration and test driven development

Ideally also:

Firebase (particularly Firestore)

Typescript

D3

Python web frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI)

Statecharts/Finite State Machines

Cloud services and serverless architectures (GCP / AWS etc)

Culture:

We love storytelling, operating with a lean start up mentality, but with the backing and support of a global agency - WPP PLC.  We value working as a team, sharing responsibility for researching and bringing the concepts we create together to life.  Our goal is always towards the customer seeking to understand their needs and how best to realise these through the product we bring to market.

Trust and freedom are core to the way we work - believing our team will do the best to realise our vision and provide the freedom in which to relax as well as work.

Inclusivity:

We want to make our hiring as inclusive as possible, this job description has been reviewed by a range of employees and has passed a neutral language check. We have also reviewed our hiring process to make sure it offers flexibility to candidates that need it.
