Our mission is to build a new platform to bring storytelling into the 21st century and this role is critical in shaping the technology strategy and team to develop it.

Over the last two years Fictioneers have developed the MUST platform, which allows storytellers to create interactive narrative experiences delivered across multiple media types in both physical and virtual domains.

MUST was first used to deliver and orchestrate "Wallac and Gromit: The big fix up" an multi award winning real-time storytelling experience created in collaboration with Aardman Animations.

About the role:

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer, with a strong understanding of product design principles and collaborative skills to join our cross-discipline product team.

This is an exciting time to join the team and contribute directly to the future of our platform as we take it to the next level in its maturity and capability. You will be working alongside our team of designers and developers to prioritise and develop new features whilst ensuring our work is focused on the agreed desired outcomes, the product vision and purpose, and fits in with the overall product strategy.

This role will see you working as part of a cross-functional, collaborative product team. We know that designers come in many different flavours and acronyms but above all, we're looking for:

Advocates of a hypothesis-driven, iterative product design process.

Collaborative designers who bring teams together to collaborate over the problem solving process.

Detail-focused craftspeople who set a high bar for quality in their design artefacts.

About you:

We use Material Design and Figma so familiarity with using and managing Material or equivalent component libraries and design systems is useful. As a team we spend a lot of time in Miro capturing, discussing and speccing up user journeys and stories, and building a shared understanding of the challenge at hand so familiarity with different methodologies around shaping and prioritising work is very valuable. Ability to structure research sessions, conduct interviews and synthesise and communicate the discoveries back to the wider product team to help shape the strategy and tactics of the team is crucial.

You should have a product mentality and be comfortable with all stages of the product lifecycle, from initial experimentation and requirements gathering through to delivery and support. Your past work should show that you are used to working and managing large projects: prioritising work streams, working efficiently and managing your own time, fleshing out creative concepts and effectively working, leading other designers and working with developers to bring everything to fruition to your own exacting standards.

You must have:

Experience working within a cross disciplinary team to prioritise work against business goals and product strategy

A portfolio with real world examples of projects you helped launch that showcase your design thinking skills, with at least one example of iterative design

Designed high quality interfaces and prototypes for your team, supported with UX design artefacts

UI design using Figma and prototyping tools for rapid validation

Experience developing effective product research methodologies and executing them

Ability to communicate and present design output to stakeholders

Ideally also:

Understanding of web technologies

??Experience of Design Sprints and Lean UX

Examples of how you validate your design work

Evidence of how you influenced live projects through user research

Start-up or SAAS background

Experience of designing multi-user collaborative applications

Experience in the interactive, games and entertainment industry

Culture:

We love storytelling, operating with a lean start up mentality, but with the backing and support of a global agency - WPP PLC.  We value working as a team, sharing responsibility for researching and bringing the concepts we create together to life.  Our goal is always towards the customer seeking to understand their needs and how best to realise these through the product we bring to market.

Trust and freedom are core to the way we work - believing our team will do the best to realise our vision and provide the freedom in which to relax as well as work.

Inclusivity:

We want to make our hiring as inclusive as possible, this job description has been reviewed by a range of employees and has passed a neutral language check. We have also reviewed our hiring process to make sure it offers flexibility to candidates that need it.
