We have an opening for a skilled Principal Software Engineer who is comfortable with leading engineers and taking technical ownership of products. You will be working within our Integration Development team which sits in our IT Department here at Head Office in Deeside, near Chester. 

Purpose of the role: 

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will lead a squad of engineers working on the latest Azure technologies following contemporary architectural patterns and practices directed towards delivering business value fast.

The squad develops and supports micro-services, taking advantage of the cost and scaling benefits of serverless compute in Azure.  Responsible for custom integrations within Iceland, our focus is on writing highly performant solutions often required to deal with large numbers of transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a squad of engineers (line management responsibility)
  • Develop and maintain technical product roadmaps
  • Take technical ownership of a portfolio of products
  • Assist the Software Development Manager with strategic planning
  • Execute software development tasks as part of a SCRUM sprint
  • Perform peer reviews
  • Collaborate with Architects as part of the design process
  • Work with Business and Test Analysts to refine User Stories and their Acceptance Criteria
  • Perform Spikes as part of the development process
  • Investigate and assess new technology
  • Mentor other team members

Skills required:

  • Good understanding of product development
  • Good understanding of SOLID principles
  • Good understanding of software development methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Design Patterns
  • Strong C# (other OO acceptable)
  • Strong SQL (alternate experience of document dBs acceptable)
