Would you champion our DevOps culture to help our team build solutions that shape the future of Financial Planning? Could your expertise help our delivery teams adopt a true DevOps mindset? The RoleThe newly formed SPW Technology & Engineering function is responsible for building the technology platform to support our new venture and you will be hands-on in the delivery of the new applications for our digital transformation programme. We are entirely in the cloud, with a greenfield tech stack; taking advantage of powerful commoditised offerings where we can and building bespoke cloud-native solutions to differentiate us from our competition. We aim to provide clients with clarity and transparency in everything we do. This includes using technology to explain how long-term financial planning can add value to people's lives, to give people access to information about their financial wellbeing and to enable clients to communicate with their adviser when it's convenient for them. You will champion a DevOps culture, with automation at its core, and support developers in building and maintaining pipelines. You will have accountability for SPW pushing on from our existing baseline to introduce feature branch deployments, canary releases and defining the deploy vs release approach we take. What you'll be doingTaking ownership of applications through the full software development lifecycle.Helping delivery teams develop a DevOps mindset from inception through live deployment and ultimately decommissioning.Automating tasks from build and deployment through monitoring and alerting.Providing hands on support for engineering on some or all of our core technical stack including TypeScript, Node.js, React, AWS and particularly Kubernetes.Driving DevOps adoption and defining best practice, and guiding developers in adhering to these.Ensuring quality can be tested in automated CI/CD pipelines.Defining and delivering logging and monitoring strategies across distributed systems. Your Qualifications & ExperienceYou can clearly articulate what DevOps and DevSecOps mean to you, and what a healthy approach is to these concepts.You are equally attuned to the Ops aspect of DevOps and take a pro-active approach to minimising outage.You have worked on public-facing systems, and understand how to build them to be secure, scalable and resilient.You have an understanding of the opportunities of cloud computing and how to use it well.Humble: you acknowledge your strengths, and also your weaknesses; you work for more than your own personal glory.Curious: you follow the latest technology developments, and explore ways they can be adopted.Creative: you think beyond the obvious.Thorough: you consider the full-picture, and understand that details can matter.Calm: you're positive under pressure and happy to take the lead in challenging times.
