European Head of Fixed Product Control

This position will be part of the Krakow Product Control senior management team and will have the primary responsibility to manage the Fixed Income Product Control team responsible for the London and Paris business activities.

 

The team comprises around 45 product controllers.

 

Members of this team work closely with a number of Product Control teams in London, Paris and Krakow, Front Office teams in both locations, Finance Change and IT teams and Market Risk Management.

 

Key Responsibilities

Managing PnL reporting and Balance Sheet reporting and substantiation for HBEU and HBFR Fixed Income units

Managing Fixed Income PnL and Balance Sheet control framework, Including on-going communication with the Heads of the Trading Desk, Business Leads, and explanation of PnL movements to management, attribution analysis, Balance Sheet analysis and control

Acting as a key point of contact and authority in Krakow for stakeholders in answering questions on the Core PC Fixed Income processes and reporting.

Engaging within Product Control teams (incl. Valuation, Analytics and Development) to ensure that the PnL and BS results are correctly reflected in all reporting systems, understood and explained.

Review the results and commentaries and work together with the business to understand the market and strategic reasons behind the financial results

Ensuring that the communication with the business is seamless and consistent

Ensuring Product Control FIM requirements and other applicable accounting and regulatory standards are met. Liaise with Internal and External audit and regulators where necessary

Working to ensure consistency in policies/standards across sites/teams and implement strategies to improve consistency where it is not already in place

Keeping up to date knowledge of finance and risk policies and to be aware of financial market developments regionally and globally in order to understand how they impact on the valuation of global markets products.

Identifying and assist with the onboarding of existing processes to strategic IT architecture

Participating in ad-hoc projects that arise relating to further streamlining of existing systems or assisting in the implement in the introduction of new systems/accounting standards/Business led initiatives/new products

Leading, motivating and managing a team of finance professionals managing contingencies, learning & development, succession & progression planning, expectations and attrition management.

Driving Continuous review of processes with the objective of improving the service delivery timeframes and identify areas of improvement

Managing relationships with multiple senior stakeholders (other PC European Heads) both offshore and onshore.

Skills Required:

University graduate from a reputed institution in financial or economic subject or university graduate in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar.

At least 5-7 years of experience at managing high performing teams (Managing other managers or team leaders).

Managerial level Product Control experience or similar professional experience in Finance industry.

Deep financial product and valuation knowledge (Fixed Income products).

Excellent written English and oral communication skills.

Good understanding of Financial Markets (products traded and their life cycle, accounting principles and valuation techniques).

Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ambitious, driven and enthusiastic. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

The role is based in Krakow Poland.

The salary for this position will be PLN 35K to PLN 40K plus per month
