We have an exciting opportunity for a key individual to join our newly established, ambitious team. As the Web Team at the University of Central Lancashire we develop, manage, and support digital web products, projects, and content, with a focus on the main corporate website. Our aim is to continuously improve our products, services, and team to create cutting edge digital experiences. Both on a commercial and practical level as well as being technically sound and beautiful and always with amazing user engagement in mind.  Our practical can-do approach is mirrored in our agile and diverse team comprised of; UX and Digital Designers, SEO and Data Analysis, Developers (2), Product Manager and Content Team (5). We work highly collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across the University.  Specifically, we are looking to strengthen the team with an enthusiastic individual who brings a wealth of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript experience, ideally with a good knowledge of Node.js/Docker backend development (WebPack, APIs). You understand how underlying web technologies / platforms work and why. You never code without using version control, CI/CD and ticket-based development practices. You understand the need for a UX, data-driven, collaborative, and agile approach to development. You enjoy researching all things web technology related to ensure you are up to date with the current and future trends. Your voice, opinions and expertise are welcomed, and critical thinking encouraged, keeping in mind the commercial and often practical nature to drive things forward. You enjoy supporting and helping to grow your technical peers in expert-programming and advice. Essentially, you will provide full stack web development skills and services forming a core part of the technical know-how. You will help create, update, innovate, test, future proof and maintain the front-end and back-end of various websites and other web-related technologies as well as our development practices. You will help drive, inform, and implement technological solutions taking ideas and/or designs to development into production. You will take day-to-day direction from the Lead Developer and will work collaboratively across the team and with wider stakeholders with the aim for continual improvement in all matters to ensure best practice. Our ‘daily' tech stack is React/Redux/Saga/SSR/StyledComponents based with a 3rd party backend. TypeScript with APIs is used for pure backend work. Deployment is mostly handled by other teams.
