Due to exceptional business growth, this scientific equipment specialist supplying universities, pharmaceutical and biotech customers throughout the UK, wish to recruit a Field Service Engineer (North).

Applicants should ideally live in either Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire or South Yorkshire as the role covers the M62 corridor and the East Midlands.

Key customer locations within this territory include Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham and Leicester. Travel requirements will likely extend to Cambridge if required to support colleagues as this is a major customer base.

This position represents an exciting opportunity for an engineer who either already works with scientific equipment or shows and interest and aptitude to enter this field, to be part of a well-respected, successful and growing business with a great reputation in the scientific community. Candidates with laboratory experience and a keen eye for troubleshooting equipment and interest in moving into the service industry would also be considered.

Role

- To complete onsite planned preventative maintenance visits

- To perform installations, repairs, qualifications, and upgrades to meet existing customer service level agreements

- To provide Service support to other areas of the company when required

- To actively promote all aspects of the business including all Service Support products and to correspond with the local product specialists

The successful candidate would have either...

- Experience working as a Field Service Engineer, ideally on analytical/laboratory equipment or similar

- Laboratory experience with a keen eye for troubleshooting equipment and interest in moving into the service industry

Key attributes required

- Attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed service protocols

- Troubleshooting/fault finding skills to identify and resolve hardware faults

- Knowledge and experience of PC hardware, Microsoft Windows Operating systems and MS Office are essential

- Flexibility to travel if needed with the potential for overnight stays

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Organised with good time management
