Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. We are playing a vital part in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and a carbon neutral energy system - a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Whatever your role, you'll be playing your part in creating new energy solutions that are great for customers, and great for the environment.

We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding, where you can get involved in ground-breaking work. And it's important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds - bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.
This is a great move for an experienced DevOps professional who is ready to take on a team leadership role and set the direction for how your team can support modernisation and improvement through better use of digital products. Digital innovation is a central part of Ofgem's strategy to support the energy sector to achieve its Net Zero targets, so it's an ideal time to take on this role - the organisation is fully committed to change and embracing new ways of working. And you'll have plenty of autonomy in setting the direction for your team, so that their skills and expertise are used to the full.

Current priorities include continuous integration, continuous delivery, automation, and building robust secure systems hosted on Azure IaaS and PaaS using Azure DevOps, so we expect that you'll be highly skilled in managing a mixed IaaS/PaaS Azure platform. You should also bring a good awareness of best practices in test automation and be able to use a standard toolset across the business. You'll need to demonstrate experience of supporting and maintaining a complex, multi-server, microservice driven environment alongside a good understanding of security principles and best practice. We'd also like you to have an understanding of scripting tools (eg: Powershell) that can assist in automation of key infrastructure tasks. Your technical know-how should be backed up by excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to creating a positive team environment with great customer service at its heart. Highly developed organisational and planning skills will also be vital in co-ordinating and prioritising your work, and that of your team. Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need. Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive benefits package, which includes: Up to 30 days' annual leave Excellent training and development opportunities The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits Flexible working hours and family friendly policies Subsidised gym subsidised restaurant (London) Interest free season ticket loan or a bicycle loan outstanding work surroundings in London (Canary Wharf) or Glasgow city centre Easy access to major transport links Access to Benenden Medical Healthcare For more information on the role and to apply please view the candidate pack.
