Here we are implementing a cultural and technology change to drive the competitive advantages of data for the largest publisher in the world. This will start with the renewal of our entire Enterprise Data Platform through 2021 and includes the creation of a dedicated data governance team using dedicated tooling and working with business teams to catalogue, govern and drive quality for our data assets.

You will be a part of the Data Team, a data centre of excellence for PRH UK. Reporting to the Product Manager-Data Governance, you will develop close relationships with chosen business departments and translate the meaning of data assets to clear, simple text. You will be a key data translator, understanding our data, the context for using data and the process by which we create data. You will harmonise business terms to build a robust lexicon for all of PRH UK.
Core responsibilities:
Business Glossary

  • Document Business terms including named ownership, context and process.
  • An effective data translator that can tease out the relevant information from users.
  • Agree terminology with business teams and facilitating inter/cross departmental conversations to do so.
  • Ensure the PRH Data Models use simple and clear business terms.

Data Catalogue

  • Document data dictionaries including criticality, lineage, and metric definitions.
  • Introduce new governance standards that ensure technical information is well defined.
  • Maintain and curate the Data Catalogue.
  • Drive user adoption of the tool and create buzz about the tool.
  • Improve user experience of the Data Catalog through well researched metrics and user feedback.

Data Governance

  • Be a thoughtful and effective communicator with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical users.
  • Create and deliver write-ups, articles, and other content about data governance at PRH UK.
  • Help identify & prioritise data issues and support the business to resolve material Data Quality Issues and plan data cleansing activities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the Data Governance Policy.
  • Improve the practice of Data Governance at PRH.

Business Relationships

  • Forge and build relationships with employees at all levels of seniority
  • Work with business SMEs to connect to the right people to gather information
  • Build virtual working teams to help deliver the governance artefacts required.
  • Work closely with Data Modellers, Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Visualisation Developers to improve the quality of documentation, standards and use of data from the data team technology stack.
  • Advocating the benefits of Data Governance.

Experience & Skills we're looking for:

  • An effective and energetic communicator with Data Translator Skills 
  • At least 2-3 years' experience working in Technology or Data. 
  • Proven experience in creating Business Glossaries, Dictionaries, articles, content, or documentation.
  • Strong editing, proof reading and attention to detail skills
  • An understanding of data structures and data technologies.
  • Understanding of Agile Development or DevOps Methodology
  • Experience delivering training to 20+ users.

Salary: £40k - £48k dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits
