As a Senior Performance & Evaluation Analyst you will undertake regular reporting, analysis and presentation of performance information to colleagues, whilst working with others to correct known data quality issues.

What we're looking for from you...

The post-holder will be within the wider Performance team made up of Assurance, Performance and Resource Management. They will have the opportunity to work across these areas on projects that have real impact on our organisation. For most of the time, the post-holder should expect to be involved in the area of performance. The team will be aligned to matrix working, meaning they may work directly with a specific area for a given period, such as analysing the results from corporate management assurance, or be embedded within an improvement project where they will be the information specialist. There will be opportunities to gain exposure and skills across all areas of work.

JD Accountabilities:

  • With Senior Performance colleagues, designs and defines management information and evaluation measures for use across the organisation
  • With colleagues across the Performance function; maintains a register of performance measures.
  • Undertakes regular reporting, analysis and presentation of performance data to colleagues (from inspection teams to senior leaders) that:
        - aligns with our corporate plan and strategy;
        - is joined up with Performance and Assurance;
        - is insightful, focused and accessible;
        - drives decisions.
  • Proactively uses the information to identify performance variation at any level of the organisation.
  • Engages with Inspectors and Inspection Manager colleagues to understand what is driving variance from performance expectations.
  • Work with colleagues to enable them to have insight into variation in performance
  • With users of information, identifies improvements to measures and presentation, and implements them
  • Identifies and works with others to correct known data quality issues affecting their information
  • Provides analytical support to evaluation projects including surveys.
  • Promotes the use of our team's information and its alignment across the organisation
  • Acts as a performance expert, advising teams on how they can ‘self-serve' information or other tools to support their work
  • Undertakes reporting or briefings for publication of external audiences, for example the Annual Report and Accounts or National Audit Office reports on our performance.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Extracting, handling and manipulating data (minimum of advanced excel skills and knowledge and experience in using Power Bi. Experience of other systems such as Oracle, VBA is desirable)
  • Strong analytical skills and thinking, in particular:
    - excellent numerical skills
    - examining variance and developing hypotheses
    - analysing the results of surveys and presenting the information to stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, including presenting information for decision making and the ability to produce clear, accurate reports that present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Working with others to make effective use of information
  • Using evidence to influence decision makers, including senior leaders
  • Great team worker.
  • The ability to assess your own and others' outputs critically to ensure quality.
  • The post-holder will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience.
