We are working with one of our trusted insurance clients to recruit a Senior Analyst/Programmer into either their London or Brighton office, with a strong focus on Oracle and PL/SQL. The role will be focused on developing and maintaining corporate IT systems and providing user support in core office hours for all corporate systems.

Prior insurance experience will be needed for this position.

The key responsibilities will include:

Analyse business requirements and design appropriate solutions

Develop appropriate and maintainable software to a high technical standard ensuring that it meets the on-going business needs and conforms to the IT Data Policy which outlines the company approach to data quality

Test software to confirm it meets business requirements and evidence quality control of developed software

Deliver software on time and to scope

Monitor all systems as required

Provide suitable documentation to enable handover of developed software

Complete and provide progress reporting on projects allocated

Provide out of hours support as required

Respond to ongoing business demands beyond daily working hours if required

Ensure task and project ownership, pride in product delivery with utmost attention to detail

Manage conflicting priorities and multiple tasks

Willing to mentor and develop junior staff for the betterment of the individual and team

Keep abreast of changes in technology and recommending improvements to current systems and processes

The key knowledge required for the role is:

At least 10 years' experience of Oracle RDBMS essential, including PL/SQL, SQL and performance tuning

Unix desirable

PowerBuilder advantageous At least 5 years' Insurance & Reinsurance knowledge, particularly Lloyd's market and commercial lines

Knowledge of the operation of the Reinsurance, Claims, Finance and Actuarial departments

Thorough understanding of the current corporate business process

IT development methodologies

Project Management and Risk Management techniques
