Description

This Leading Logistics & Supply Chain organisation require an Enterprise Data Architect to take overall responsibility for establishing and leading a new Data Management capability across the Business. The role will cover all aspects of Data Strategy, Implementation of the strategy and Data Governance. The associated tasks include;

  • Creating value through data exploitation
  • Envisioning data-enabled strategies
  • Establishing data and analytics governance
  • Specifying enterprise information policy

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a corporate and business data management strategy that is aligned with the business strategy
  • Develop & help institute best practice, methodologies and standards with regards to Master Data, Meta Data, Data Quality, Data Governance, Data Structure, Data Architecture, and Data Security
  • Support on the delivery of a major Cloud Transformation (any experience across Azure / Oracle / AWS / GCP is considered)
  • Collaborate with BRM's to define strategic data architecture direction for each business unit
  • Support, specifically, the data aspects of business projects, logical and physical database design, including data modelling and semantic mapping.
  • Build an inventory of data needed to support the business operational and analytical needs
  • Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models for the enterprise
  • Design, construct and document database architectures and data management solutions, ensuring the designs are scalable, secure, performant and reliable
  • Maintain a corporate repository of all data architecture artifacts and procedures
  • Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility
  • Research new opportunities for data acquisition
  • Create a fluid, end-to-end vision for how data will flow through an organization
  • Identify and evaluate current data management technologies
  • Oversee the development and deployment of the enterprise's data and analytics platform for digital business.
  • Expand the organization's research and analytics offerings, especially in emerging analytical approaches, skills and technologies, focusing them on digital business innovation
  • Produce data management standards

Experience, skills and attributes:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in Head of Data Management/senior Data Architect role
  • Delivery of a major Cloud Transformation (any experience across Azure / Oracle / AWS / GCP is considered)
  • Previous experience of working in a Data or Solution architecture capacity
  • Data modelling and implementation including associated challenges
  • Knowledgeable of architecture modeling and management: Conceptual, Logical & Physical / frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
  • Strong experience of data modelling techniques and approaches-canonical, conceptual, logical & physical; and their practical application (ideally within a retail business)
  • Strong working knowledge of technologies and approaches to both integration and analytics, as well as the emerging domains of data science, machine learning, AI & cognitive
  • Strong interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to effectively manager senior stakeholders and internal IT teams
  • Understanding of the political climate of the enterprise, and how to navigate the waters
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations
  • Experience in logistics and of supply chain technologies beneficial

Profile
