My client urgently requires a DevOps Engineer to support an on-going projects with one of their key retail customers.
START: ASAP
END DATE: 31/01/22 (INITIALLY)
RATE: £450 - £550 PER DAY (INSIDE IR35)
LOCATION: REMOTE
Be a system engineer using DevOps tools to build public & private cloud platform & infrastructure elements Build solutions to agreed best practice. Implement solutions for customers consistently & with quality, using our methodologies & processes. As a DevOps Engineer you will work in a focused delivery teams building multi cloud architectures & technologies to be used on to the AWS, Azure, GCP & vmWare. Work as part of a team defining, designing and implementing solutions for our customers. Act as a SME for DevOps engineering efforts within a delivery team. Attend customer and project meetings to present solutions from a technical and implementation approach. Highlight any technical risks that may impact the success of the solution for our client.
Ideal candidate:
> Be an experienced engineer who is proficient with Linux, Windows, Packer and Terraform
> Have experience of CI/CD toolsets like Jenkins or Bamboo
> Have experience of Configuration Management tools such as Puppet or Ansible
> Have strong scripting skills with either of the following - Go lang, Python, Java, Ruby, Perl, PHP, Bash
> Has extensive knowledge of building images in Packer across cloud providers for Windows and/or Linux images
> Understand Image Lifecycle Management & how to centralise its use across cloud providers
> Have worked with one or more customers in the delivery of Packer
> Have experience delivering DevOps based solutions in an agile approach using sprints, backlog items, stand ups etc. & have experience with tools such as Jira
> Understand the importance of security and compliance and how to build tools and solutions that adhere to standards such as the CIS benchmarks
> Plan own work to meet given objectives and processes
> Interacts with and influences colleagues and has working level contact with customers, suppliers and partners
> Applies methodical approach to issue definition and resolution
> Demonstrates effective application of knowledge
> Takes action to develop own knowledge and represents this in their work
> Communicates fluently, orally and in writing, and can present information to both technical and non technical audiences
> Selects appropriately from applicable standards, methods, tools and applications
Skills:
Mandatory -
> Must be proficient with DevOps and Agile methodologies
> Must be proficient with Packer and Terraform
> Must be familiar with CI/CD pipelines and tooling (Jenkins, Concourse etc)
> Must be familiar with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc)
> Must be proficient with Source Code Version Control tools such as Git
> Must be proficient with development/scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, Python or Node.js
For the right candidate full training & enablement will be provided to address any gaps
Nice to Have -
> Working knowledge of the GCP, AWS, Azure & vmWare platforms
> Understanding of image build & deployment using cloud native tools
