Job Title: Lead Software Engineer

Location: Edinburgh, Earl Grey Street. Please only apply if your able to work from 2 to 3 days per week in this location post covid, depending on the week. We also offer flexible working patterns for example flexible start and finish times or compressed hours!

Salary & Benefits: £70, 080 - £87, 600 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

What you'll doing:

We're looking for someone who is passionate about technology and its application to real-world problems. Ideally, you'll have a significant software engineering background, although you won't be expected to be as hands-on but rather focused on leadership of technical teams, continuous improvement, and business stakeholder management.

About the team

The Card Servicing lab is a flexible and multi skilled team based in Edinburgh city centre. Our purpose is to provide market leading customer experience through the servicing of Debit and Credit cards via multiple channels, including digital. We're responsible for servicing over 38 million active debit and credit cards across all Lloyds Banking Group brands and work alongside global industry leaders including Visa and MasterCard. In Group Transformation, we're creating new opportunities and products to improve customer experiences for years to come.

The key missions of this role:

Be a leader with a vision in technology and use this to help define and drive the future technical strategy

Work with Engineering teams to up-skill their capabilities in their relevant area

Take ownership and lead teams to deliver customer outcomes

Be an ambassador for the continuous improvement of the systems and technologies in the team

Promote collaboration and strategic conversations with Engineering Leads across Group Transformation

What we're looking for

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll have a broad technical appreciation combined with a strong delivery approach.

Good understanding of the latest software development practice, with experience in defining and implementing technical strategies and roadmaps

Skilled in the leadership and delivery of technical change using Agile methodologies

Experienced in technical architecture, infrastructure, and hardware and able to lead teams, set direction and solve problems when delivering change in these areas

Being an experience advocate of both Cloud Technology and DevOps to help shape the technology transformation plan

You'll be a keen and comfortable communicator who is happy working with a wide range of technical and non-technical staff

We would also welcome someone with experience in leading the relationship with 3rd party technology suppliers, taking ownership of associated contract and governance activities.; a people leader with experience running Engineering Guilds and the line management of Software Engineers to support their learning and development; and help to define and deliver the Labs strategy, vision and purpose with the broader leadership community.
