As a Software Engineer in Test (SEiT) within the Data Tribe you will be tasked with facilitating the creation and running of test automation packs against a wide range of data products.

You will provide confidence in the quality and rigor of test whilst minimising the impact to the development lifecycle.

You will ensure the reliability and upkeep of our test and staging environments, and champion their use throughout the SDLC.

Monitoring and alerting within the test and staging environments will be essential to your role.

You will lead on projects with a view to contribute to our progressive move towards an automation-centric test approach.

As the need arises there may be a requirement to assist in functional testing of in-flight work, with the right candidate expected to offer flexibility in this regard.

How you will do it…

You will work as part of a small team of data engineers and test engineers focused on the delivery of products in alignment with key business areas, such as the company's betting functions, gaming functions or customer operations.

You will contribute to a culture in which the team can surface and discuss their ideas openly and considerately.

You will work alongside other SEiT and test engineers from across the tribe, to produce larger initiatives and drive a higher standard of test capability.

You will contribute to enabling the migration of our data centre onto our exciting new Google Cloud platform

You will balance the need to provide test automation on new products being developed by your team against that of retrofitting test automation into an existing catalogue of products.

You will demonstrate care for the security and integrity of the data that passes through your products, as well as the portability, scalability and maintainability.

You will join a community of other SEiT, test engineers and software engineers within the tribe and collectively work with the tribe's test manager to ensure that you are given the best support possible.

Key skills include:Framework design and development.Functional programming ability - e.g. Python, Ruby, Scala, Java/Groovy, Javascript.Strong understanding of good industry practice - including coding/scripting standards.Communication skills.Agile working methodology - including use of typical tools, such as JIRA.
