Role - Lead UI Engineer

Location - Birmingham

Salary - £80,000 - £100,000 (10-30% Bonus, 11% Pension, Private Healthcare)I am engaged with a Global Investment Bank, one of my longest-tenured clients, who are looking to recruit experienced Lead Engineers with proven commercial experience developing UI/Web applications using JavaScript technologies. The organisation in question are widely known as one of the leading Investment Banks, with these roles being part of a huge recruitment drive in the West Midlands as they look to build out an 'Engineering Centre of Excellence' in Birmingham.Role OverviewWorking in a highly-skilled Software Engineering team, your role will see you work on cutting edge applications in the Equities, Derivatives and Markets space. This team in particular deliver state-of-the-art digital web platforms that help to transform and simplify client experiences. They are a truly 'product-driven' team, with a consistent focus on quality over speed and are committed to utilising modern Software Engineering practices including Agile, Scrum, CI/CD, DevOps etc. Working as a Lead Engineer, your role will specifically focus on both technical and leadership responsibilities, with an opportunity to get involved in high-level architectural conversations. Their core tech stack is very JavaScript-focused (React, Redux, Angular, TypeScript) and you will also be given the opportunity to work closely with both technical and business-facing stakeholders.Working PatternsThis organisation have recently opened an office Birmingham (5-10 minute walk from New Street Station) and this role will require you to be in the office 3 days' per week, with the remaining time spent working from home. They are fully committed to flexible working hours.Candidate RequirementsUI/Web Technologies - Proven experience developing UI/Web applications using core front end technologies, with a specific focus on JavaScript, React, Redux, TypeScript, GraphQL, Angular etc.Engineering Background - You must have excellent knowledge and commercial experience working with design patterns, data structures, object-oriented principles etc.Engineering Methods - Proven experience working with core Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban, XP) is required, as is experience working in a DevOps (CI/CD) environment.Leadership - Proven experience working as a Senior/Lead Engineer, ideally leading projects and/or people is highly desirable, as are mentoring/coaching skills.Stakeholder Management - You must have excellent communication skills (written & oral), including proven commercial experience working with both internal and external stakeholders.Academics - Whilst not essential, candidates with a background in Computer Science or a discipline such as Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics are desirable.
