Linux Platform Engineer

£60k - £80k DOE

Global Consultancy - Location: UK wide candidates can pick either London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Wales, Liverpool or Sheffield (remote for now)

We are currently looking for a Linux Engineer to join our client's cloud platform team. Some of the projects you will work on will include migrations to cloud, platform modernization, public cloud deployment and optimizing Linux platforms. Key Skills:

-In-depth knowledge of Linux

-Opensource technologies in public cloud

-Knowledge of DevOps and SRE delivery models

-Scripting (Python, Shell, Perl) used for automation

-Docker, Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift

-Knowledge and experience of one or more public cloud platform

Responsibilities:

*Migration workloads to cloud - migrating application workloads to public cloud, taking end-to-end responsibility for Linux workloads

*Platform modernization - embracing opensource Linux solutions, moving away from complex and expensive mid-range systems

*Public cloud deployment - working with DevOps teams, providing expertise across all Linux domains, often including modern application hosting solutions such as Docker, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift

*Optimizing Linux Platforms - helping to improve resilience, availability, monitoring, automation and security.

*ERP to cloud - helping customers adopt public cloud for ERP (SAP or Oracle) solutions, often with reliance on Linux as the operating system of choice
