My client is looking for an SQL database Programmer to be based in Bristol for an initial 6 month contract inside of IR35.

This role is responsible for managing the HR Database (HRDB) and Better Workplace applications and the data assets they manage. The HRDB aggregates HR data from other systems including core HR systems for the purpose of providing people reporting and analytics services across the business. The BWP database augments HR data to provide data for the Better Workplace Programme. This role is responsible for the design, security and maintenance of the two solutions ensuing adequate data controls and processes are in place to support consistent service delivery.

Experience you would be expected to have

*Mandatory - Knowledge of database design and query tools

*Mandatory - Understanding of relational databases and transactions

*Mandatory - Data privacy requirements and managing controls for sensitive data

*Mandatory - Use of Transact SQL (SSMS2016)

*Mandatory - Management and application of temporal tables

*Prefered - Previous role experience with people data

*Preferred - Experience in the development of database operational processes

*Preferred - Experience of PowerShell scripting

*Preferred - An analytical problem solver with diagnostic skills such as root cause analysis

What you'll be doing:

Solution Design

*Partner with the wider People Reporting and Analytics team to design data solutions that enable the delivery of BT's people data reporting needs.

*Partner with the Better Workplace Programme to ensure data requirements are understood and delivered consistently.

*Support the design of the new data architecture and configuration of SAP SuccessFactors for managing reporting and analytics services utilising as part of I Connect

HR Database Management

*Manage database changes and operational processes required to maintain a source of trusted and reliable data

*Accountable for documenting database design and database management processes

*Partner with the Technology support teams to ensure the maintenance of the system and associated integrations including regular upload and extraction of data

*Ensure database compliance with BT security and data protocols and adherence to the relevant data controls across the data lifecycle (capture, storage, access, retention, deletion)

*Accountable for ensuring that all delivery is in line with legislative requirements e.g. GDPR, as well as the BT's Security and Safety Policies

Data Extraction

*Managing regular data extracts provided to other applications e.g. BWP solution, Annaplan, Orgvue or to support reporting e.g. Headcount and Movements files.

*Automate data extracts for ease of production.

*New requests for data to support reporting may require complex SQL code to be developed to extract the relevant data from the HRDB.

*Provide guidance to the wider People Reporting and Analytics team to manage data queries and extraction effectively

Data Integrity

*The HRDB transforms data from different data sources which requires active management to ensure data integrity. Data anomalies can disrupt the refresh process and require detailed data checks to ensure data uploads work.

*Identify data integrity and data quality risks and issues and recommend changes to inform data definitions and requirements that ensure consistent and trusted data for the purposes of reporting and analytics.

Functional experience/skills

*Ability to assess data risks and implement controls to manage BT's people data assets in the HRDB securely

*Knowledge of data privacy and GDPR requirements with reference to the management of sensitive enterprise information assets

*Understanding of HR data and people reporting requirements

Technical experience/skills

*Knowledge of database design, management, and maintenance

*Manage complex code requirements using Transact SQL

*An understanding of the complexities of managing data sourced from multiple applications across several reporting entities

Colleague Experience

*Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with key partners within HR and other functions

*Ability to communicate with key stakeholders about their data needs and the purpose of reporting and analytics and the business impact

Problem Solving

*Experience in managing multiple requests and prioritising activity based on an assessment of commercial and operational impact

*Effective planning skills to manage short and long-term priorities

*Identifying ways to address multiple requests effectively and efficiently maximising the value of the people and data assets within the team.
