GCP Data Architect - Principal Consultant Group Professional Services (GPS)What the role is:As a GCP Principal Consultant you will act as a subject matter expert in GCP data architecture and technologies delivering both pre and post sales technical consultancy to our customers. You'll be part of a Practice, within the UK Professional Services function, supporting the business in either project or consultancy lead engagements specific to the Google Cloud PlatformAs a predominately client facing role you will have proven skills in working with customers to design and implement modern, scalable GCP data solutions using a range of new and emerging database and big data technologies from the Google Cloud PlatformThis role is UK based, and will involve travel to and client sitesWhat you'll do:Have responsibility for influencing and shaping GCP solutions primarily focused on data services, data storage, data migration and orchestrationDefine solutions, technologies and standards to best practiceDesign and implement solutions for customers consistently and with quality, using our methodologies and processesProvide opportunity-specific Technical Assurance, Quality Assurance, Governance & Customer Satisfaction of pre and post sales consultancy engagements Work as part of a team defining, designing and implementing solutions for our customersLead, mentor and upskill fellow team members both internally a whilst in a customer engagementAttend customer meetings to present solutions from a technical and implementation approachHighlight any technical risks that may impact the success of the solution for our clientLiaise and be a key member of our GCP community, contributing to knowledge exchange and internal service and proposition developmentIdeal candidate:We align our Consultancy roles to the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA). We expect a Principal Consultant to operate at SFIA level 3 & 4.Are Google certified in one or more areas preferably Professional Cloud Architect and/or Professional Data ArchitectHave a thorough understanding of the data services of GCP and have had successfully designed, delivered and deployed these data services into GCP production environmentsFully understand GCP data services, including Databases (SQL and NoSQL), storage, BigQuery, BI, Reporting, Data Warehousing and Analytics and be able to confidently discuss these with customers and develop solution designsUnderstand the GCP data tool set and its use cases including DataFlow, DataPrep, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer and Data CatalogHave experience migrating data and/or databases into GCP, either as a 'lift and shift' or cloud native transformationHave worked with one or more customers in the delivery of data services in GCP and have either led, mentored or managed other data engineers in deliveryHave experience delivering GCP services in an agile approach using sprints, backlog items, stand ups etc. and have experience with tools such as JiraHave experience of reporting tools such as Looker,PowerBI or Data StudioHave a background or experience in Databases such as Oracle or SQL*ServerUnderstand the importance of data security and compliance and how to build GCP elements to adhere to standards such as the CIS benchmarksUnderstand the concepts of AI and ML and the GCP services that enable these on top of data setsHave deployed or integrated best of breed third party data products into GCPPlan own work to meet given objectives and processesInteracts with and influences colleagues and has working level contact with customers, suppliers and partnersLead others or make decisions which impact the work assigned to individuals or phases of projectsApplies methodical approach to issue definition and resolutionDemonstrates effective application of knowledgeHas an appreciation of the wider business contextTakes action to develop own knowledge and represents this in their workCommunicates fluently, orally and in writing, and can present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiencesFacilitates collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectivesSelects appropriately from applicable standards, methods, tools and applications Skills:Experience or at a minimum a detailed working knowledge of the following GCP Product areas: -Compute EngineGCP Cloud Storage (GCS, Persistent Disks etc)Big QueryGCP Managed Databases (i.e., Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, BigTable, DataStore/Firestore)GCP Big Data (i.e., DataProc, DataPrep, Pub/Sub)Data orchestration and pipelines/workflows via Cloud Composer and DAG'sReporting and BI Tools (i.e., Looker, Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI)Best of Breed DBMS (i.e., Oracle, SQL*Server, Postgres, MySQL)IAM and Cloud IdentityMust be familiar with DevOps and Agile methodologiesMust be proficient in Databases including SQL and NoSQLMust be proficient with Database Migrations and Tooling / MethodologiesMust be proficient with backup, archival, snapshotting and restoreMust be proficient with data standards like JSON and XMLMust be proficient with data encryption and privacyMust be familiar with data indexing, portioning, cataloguing and versioningMust be proficient with data languages such as SQLFor the right candidate full training and enablement will be provided to address any gaps Contact Simon Portway for full and further details
