About the role

As Technical Architect, you will be an important part of our commercial Enterprise Projects Team. You will be working in an international environment with a team of enterprise consultants (architects and project managers) interfacing our Product and DevOps teams on one side and large educational institutions or ministries across the world on the other side. The tech stack consists of DynamoDB, S3, ElasticSearch, Apache Sparks (Databricks), EC2, Lambda, Java, Python, JS, Go, SQS, SNS, API GW as well as many other AWS services, React.js + Redux, Typescript to name the main.

As Technical Architect the primary work tasks will include, but not be limited to:

Understanding and determining technical and business requirements from customers and providing technical recommendations and strategic solutions in a professional and timely manner.

Translating technical concepts relating to software engineering, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all.

Understanding how governance works and what governance is required. Taking responsibility for the assurance of parts of a service and knowing what risks need to be managed.

Making decisions based on managed levels of risk and complexity and recommending decisions as risk and complexity increase.

Resolving technical disputes between internal and external stakeholders in a holistic manner

Understanding trends and practices within the educational field, considering patterns and interactions on a larger scale and how they can impact not only Customers but the services as well

Structuring and producing compelling sales proposals and presentations, commercial and technical documentation including responses to RFIs and RFPs, as well as specifications and input for contracts, SOWs and project plans

Liaising with Product and DevOps regarding plans agreed with Customers and providing technical leadership and support to software development teams

Following the Customer in their journey from the start of the project to the completion

Performing technical development for bespoke solutions as part of a design and development framework

Providing accurate and timely management information, included but not limited to activity reports, bid reviews, project forecasts, KPI's etc.  

Skills & Experience Required:

Significant previous experience as a Technical Architect in a customer facing, commercial, enterprise setting

Experience in the tech stack used by Inspera (or other similar technology)

Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral

Ability to deliver high-quality documentation paying attention to detail

Educated to at least degree level in an appropriate discipline, such as Computer Science

Excellent interpersonal skills, managing complex stakeholder environments

Experience in working with large scale academic institutions, ministries and awarding bodies is preferred

Understanding of different development methodologies including Agile, Waterfall and different project management frameworks

Previous software engineering experience

Experience using Atlassian Confluence and Jira would be an advantage

Travel requirements

The main working location is our central London office, with the option to work from home as required. You should also estimate up to 30 travelling days a year for trips to other Inspera offices and for conferences and on site presentations to customers (Covid-19 permitting).
