Our purpose is bold, confident and so is our proud commitment to represent the public interest.The Charity Commission regulates 170,000 charities across England and Wales ensuring that they work within a legal framework thus building public confidence that the £10bn generously donated is put to good use.DescriptionResponsible for organising the team programme of the Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor complex programs/scripts.Owing the production of high-quality software, through their own work and that of junior associated ensuring that best practices and coding standards are followedBeing the main point of contact with Application Support & Service Delivery to ensure developed software can be supported and maintained to the required level through negotiation of changes, explaining the implications of making a change both technically and to an end-user, suggesting alternative options where appropriate, and advice on the effects of different technical options/timings.Representing the function in daily stand-ups, planning and estimating meetings with development partners and Commission colleagues to ensure co-ordination of all elementsPractice Agile delivery methodologies with the team by collaborating in the more complex reviews of work with others (Such as Sprint Reviews, Pair Programming, Retrospectives), utilise User Centred Design and test & data driven iteration. Taking well-judged decisions on options and recommendations put to them by Associate developers- for example on how to remove blockagesUsing analytical skills, good judgment and knowledge of wider business objectives to shape the team's approach to technical solutions- being the conduit between the wider business and the Associate developers.Overseeing and contributing through their own skills and expertise to the efficient adoption of live software by business colleagues, users and the Application Support team through ensuring a consistent programme of adapting procedures and altering work processes as appropriate, walk-throughs, training, guidance notes and other documentation.Through advice and supervision, ensuring that their work and those of junior colleagues are delivered against GDS standards (and frameworks) and adhered to the Commission's principles through .Gives assurance to senior grades that a consistent process is in place for the creation of documented designs for software applications or components applying agreed modelling techniques, standards, patterns and tools.Contribute to the design of components of more complex software systems through in-depth fact-finding and analysis.ProfileEssentialWorking as a software developer within a wider IT teamExperience working on a software development team using agile methodologiesExperience of building software following design standardsExperience of building software that conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).Good knowledge of Agile software development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.A good level of working knowledge with the product stack in use at the Charity Commission: Java, JSP, JavaScript, Docker, Source Control (E.g. Gi t), TSQL, HTML, CSS, JSON, XMLExperience of Object-Oriented design/developmentDesirableWorking knowledge of technologies and applications in use at the Charity Commission: Azure, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Liferay, Elastic SearchContinuous Integration (E.g.
