A well known and continually growing Insurance Company is looking for a new Data Engineer to join their growing Data Science team Client DetailsThe organisation is a multi-national Insurance company who have retained a buzzing start-up environment within their technology division. DescriptionData Engineer - Insurance Responsibilities in the role: Empower customer science by owning data optimisation, feature engineering, data pipelines and model deploymentCreate production-grade code, testing, documentation and monitoringCollaborate with colleagues to identify and drive opportunities with new data, new technology and new processesDevelop a deep understanding of the organisation's data estateWork closely with senior team members to build and own production-ready data pipelines using best practices from data engineering and software developmentIdentify opportunities to improve their existing data engineering processes and engage with the right stakeholders to implement changesFully own smaller data engineering projectsProactively and clearly communicate with stakeholders across teams, especially developing excellent relationships with IT and other upstream teams ProfileData Engineer - Insurance Required Skills and Experience:Be educated to degree level in a mathematical- engineering- or programming-oriented subject (Computer Science, applied sciences, etc), or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experienceHighly numerate with analytics and basic statistics skillsGood understanding with machine learningExperience working with big dataEnjoy communicating and collaborating with others to deliver brilliant, high-impact workBe able to communicate complex technical concepts to specialist and non-specialist audiencesDetail-orientated, commercially-minded and self-motivatedAble to come in to their London based office Have the following essential technical skills:Strong programming expertise in SQL, Python and PySparkWorking knowledge of G.i.t-based code version control and CI/CD principlesAbility to contribute to technical conversations, including a talent for picking up new technical concepts quickly Desirable skills:Experience of productionising Machine Learning applications and good understanding of the logistics involvedExperience of working with Dataiku Data Science studio - our main tool we use to query data and build our data productsExperience of working with data-related services in AWSExperience working in a large company with a complex data estateExperience with InformaticaExperience of working with big datasets and building data pipelines using SparkJob OfferData Engineer - Insurance A basic salary of up to £50,000 dependent upon experienceAnnual performance related Bonus and Pay Review29 days holiday plus bank holidaysAbility to buy or sell up to 5 days holidayUp to 40% off the organisation's products and servicesExcellent benefits package and pension scheme
