Underwriter Associate - London/Full Remote Working Underwriter Associate - London/Full Remote Working This role is based in London The duration of this contract is 12 months The pay rate on offer is up to £182 per day (PAYE) OR £228 per day (via umbrella) This role is working for a multinational insurance corporation with operations in more than 80 countries and jurisdictions About the role

What you need to know:To assess policy applications and make underwriting decisions within the guidelines and underwriting philosophy of AIG LifeProduct range: Life, Critical Illness, Income Protection, TPD, Business Protection and Waiver of PremiumA key requirement of the job role is to provide fair and balanced underwriting decisions using the appropriate amount of evidence necessary. AIG Life will be judged by intermediaries and customers on the speed and quality of the underwriting decisions.The jobholder will be in daily contact with customers, intermediaries and service providers both in writing and on the telephone. The telephone helplines will eventually be available from 8am to 8pm and therefore some flexibility of working hours may be required What we expect from you: Manage Individual protection underwriting cases across a range of products on a daily basis within service standards.Assessment of new policy applications in line with the AIG Life underwriting philosophy and policy terms and conditions.Communicate with customers, clients, doctors, service providers, intermediaries, reinsurers and FOS as necessary to:obtain further information in relation to applications or pre-sales enquiriesexplain underwriting requirements and decisionsresolve decision challenges and complaintsBuild and maintain relationships with intermediaries and service providers,

Contribute ideas for the continuous improvement of the underwriting process within AIG Life to ensure that AIG Life remains innovative and forward thinking - constantly challenge the status quoWork closely with other areas within AIG Life (for example Sales, Individual Claims, Underwriting Strategy, Actuarial, Client Services) to develop a thorough understanding of the business and contribute to "best practice" overall.Provide training, coaching, support and advice to more junior members of the team and Customer Services. This may be either on an ad hoc or more formal basis depending on the individual requirements.Support the complaints team with resolving and communicating complaints outcomes What we're looking for:Qualification: Degree level or equivalentWorking towards a CII qualificationExtensive experience of mainly medical and financial underwriting across a range of product linesGood computer literacy, sound numerical and verbal literacy skillsPrevious use of an image and workflow systemWell-developed and effective communicator, both verbally and in writingConfident, resilient, organised, approachable and dependableMotivation & Expectation Desire to deliver excellent customer serviceA demonstrable 'can-do' attitude with the ability to pro-actively manage workload Application form, interview

Remote working full time

Shift patterns usually are 8.30am - 8pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am -5.30pm on a Friday. Flexible approach to covering the shift patterns.
