Our reward packageThe starting salary will be £24,146 with opportunities to progress to £26,641 over time. Plus, this role attracts a market forces supplement of £1,125 per annum paid quarterly, pro-rated from the date of taking up the appointment to 31 March 2022 - this scheme is currently under review.

Our total reward package is potentially worth up to £35,818 per annum, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus, employer pension contributions. Our values - it's who we are:We're a force for goodWe're experts by natureWe live and breathe itWe're better togetherWe keep evolvingWe're the Met Office, come and join us and help us to make a difference.Job PurposeTo work with Met Office change activities to enable them to achieve and maintain the appropriate level of information assurance to meet the Met Office's legal, regulatory and customer requirements.Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Cyber Security IT Practitioner the key duties are:Support completion of cyber security risk assessments for new and existing systems and service.Document security advice and guidance Support the lead Security Information Risk Advisor with day to day management of actions and coordinating meetings and workshops.To facilitate and support cyber security information risk management within the Met Office. Bringing together an understanding of: the needs of people and the organisationthe threats they facethe vulnerability of technology and informationUnder supervision, provide information security advice and guidance to Met Office change activities to enable them to achieve and maintain the appropriate level of information assurance to meet the Met Office's legal, regulatory and customer requirements.Support wider initiatives where required including management of security non-conformities, production of security metrics and risk reviews.To keep up to date with all aspects of Information Assurance and carry out reviews of where these could be used in the Met Office.Essential Qualifications, Skills & AbilitiesFast learner with an aptitude for quickly understanding and solving problems and knowing when to seek help.Effective planning, communication with users and colleagues.A real enthusiasm for working in cyber security with a drive to develop your skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to inform, engage and influence at all levels of the organisation.Desirable Qualifications, Skills & AbilitiesExperience of working within a cyber security environment with exposure to security policies and standardsAwareness of cyber security policies and standardsAwareness of cyber security risk managementEvidence of implementing changes in working practicesUnderstanding of project management conceptsHow to apply and additional informationTo apply, please click on the link below and attach the most recent version of your CV, along with a cover letter which briefly states your experience against each essential and desirable criteria.Closing date 10/08/2021 with interviews commencing from 06/09/2021 .
