The role The Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) is a longitudinal population study following the lives of thousands of study participants living in and around Bristol and elsewhere is the UK. ALSPAC is run as a resource and researchers from all over the world access data and samples to carry out their own research. In addition, there is an active programme of new data and sample collection taking place with study participants.  Working as part of the data team, you would be expected to take a lead role in the development of these systems, working with the Technical Lead and other stakeholders to inform future development and long term strategy decisions. What will you be doing? Your duties will be varied. This will include (but is not limited to): Configuration of existing systems to support data collection and data validation relating to ongoing research studies Implementation of new end-user functionality within existing in-house web applications Regular maintenance of existing systems including testing and deployment of security updates Maintaining and developing a suite of scripts used for automation of common system administration tasks You should apply if You have significant technical skills and expertise (e.g. SQL, APIs, programming language) and data handling experience. You possess the ability to provide and contribute to innovative solutions to new problems. You have the ability to work autonomously and to manage multiple competing projects simultaneously.
