What it's about: This is an exciting opportunity to join our IT Asset Management team during the implementation of our new software licensing tool. You will be heavily involved in the implementation of the tool, so there are lots of opportunities for your input and ideas. You will have lots of autonomy and responsibility in this position, so your creative thinking can really come to life. Our IT Asset Management team are responsible for the control of the organisation's IT assets throughout their entire lifecycle. This entails managing acquisition, ensuring compliance, managing asset inventories, usage and disposal, and looking at ways to maximise value and optimise the total cost of ownership. The Software Asset Analyst will work within our busy Technology department working alongside our other teams processing Software support renewals and license requests and ensuring that as an organisation we are compliant across our software license estate. Working within a small but expanding team reporting to the IT Asset Manager, this is busy role that will keep you learning and developing on an ongoing basis with opportunities to attend training courses and obtain recognised IT Asset Management qualifications. The Group is a department of the University of Cambridge and a not-for-profit organisation.  What you'll be doing: Managing the lifecycle of all Group's IT Assets ensuring that the following are achieved: That all acquisition, allocation, and retirement activities are carried out in line with best practice That all asset support and maintenance contracts are successfully managed through the renewals process That all asset related contract terms and conditions are reviewed annually, and any risks or issues found are appropriately escalated That any breaches, or risks of breaches, to licensing terms are identified, managed and escalated to the IT Asset Manager in order to ensure action to maintain compliance Support the management of the lifecycle of all Group IT Assets through: Working to identify opportunities and implement methods to allow the optimisation IT Assets through retrieval and re-deployment Working with the Group's IT Asset Suppliers and Group Procurement in order to maximise the efficiency of the Group's investment Reviewing and improving existing, or creating new where required, asset management procedures, processes, and work instructions Maintaining professional knowledge and expertise by keeping abreast of trends in IT asset management and in the IT industry as a whole What we are looking for: Qualifications Essential Software Asset Management Essentials certification OR demonstratable working experience of working within a busy Software Asset Management team Desirable ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate ITIL V3 Intermediate in Release, Control & Validation Higher Level ITAM Qualifications e.g., AITAM CSAM / CHAMP / CITAM, BCS SAM Practitioner or ITAM Org IT Asset Management qualifications Experience Demonstratable experience of working within a busy Software Asset Management Team in a complex IT Department.
