A major Banking Institution with offices Worldwide is looking for a new Data Engineer to join their London based team. Client DetailsData Engineer - Banking The organisation is a major Listed Financial Services Group with offices Worldwide DescriptionData Engineer - Banking Responsible for expanding and optimising the London Branch data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross functional teams. This includes implementing improvements to existing processes and automating those that are manual in nature. Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architectureAssemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirementsPerform and run daily data download, aggregation and reporting tasksIdentify, design, and implement internal process improvements; automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalabilityConduct complex data analysis, reconciliations and reportsCombine raw information from different sourcesExplore ways to enhance data quality and reliabilityIdentify opportunities for data acquisitionDocumentation, storage and maintenance of all code in line with Group and London team standardsParticipate in specific platform enablement projects from time to time, to conduct testing, regression, reconciliation, migration and other data and reporting validation exercises. Key Risk Management Responsibilities:Identify, document and promptly escalate existing, potential and emerging risks to the Chief Risk Office or Compliance, as appropriate to the concern, to enable timely management of such risks. Ensure solution design adheres to BCBS239 principles ProfileData Engineer - Banking Essential Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering or related field5+ years' experience in designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems in a financial services environment.Extensive knowledge of database and other programming languages, including: Object-orientated programming in C# (preferred) or Java & extensive experience with SQL A detailed knowledge of the following:Advanced Excel and database modelling/programming skillsExposure to financial modelling, financial products or banking Desirable: Knowledge of, or exposure to, Murex or similar trading systemKnowledge of, or exposure to, Bank of England taxonomiesBusiness Intelligence solutions such as OBIEE or PowerBIJob OfferA basic salary of up to £80,000 plus extensive company benefits.
