Resident Advisor is an online media company producing content about electronic music. We are also one of the leading seller of tickets to electronic music events

We are looking for a Mobile Apps Developer who is passionate about electronic music and wants to get involved building products for the electronic music community.

Our apps team is based in our East London office, and this role will be based there. RA is able to offer a hybrid work-from-home policy, with a requirement to work from the East London office for at least 2 days a week.

RA welcomes applicants from all abilities, backgrounds, ethnicities, experiences, expressions, and orientations. We aim for the staffing at RA to be a reflection of the communities we cover, amplify and participate within. We actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace, this is reflected in our internal operations and the treatment of our staff.

What you'll be doing...

You'll be working on one of our mobile apps, which are the customer-facing RA Guide apps (iOS and Android), and the business-to-business RA Ticket Scanner app (iOS only). This could be improving the ticket buying experience, building new recommendation features or building new tools for promoters. We currently work using an agile methodology. We have a product management and data support team and you will often be working directly with other parts of the wider company.

We're looking for...

We're not looking for a specific list of experience or skills, we believe that a capacity to learn and to pick up new skills is more important than years of experience. We do however require proven experience in mobile apps development. This could be working in a larger apps team, doing some freelance work or simply building an iOS or Android app in your spare time. Our minimum requirements would be proficiency in Swift or Kotlin and experience with source control. We also require either professional or personal experience working on an app on Apple's or Google's respective app stores. We operate as a cross-platform team so you would also need to be open to developing your skills in both iOS and Android, although we only require current experience in one.

Tech that we use...

We use Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android. Along with recently modularising our iOS app we have begun developing new features using SwiftUI. The migration and modernisation of our platform is still ongoing, and we are constantly moving our legacy apps into more modern languages.

We use CircleCI for continuous integration and Firebase for AB testing, server-side feature switches, crash reporting and analytics amongst other things.

Interview process...

If we like your application, we will do an initial call with you to make sure your expectations match up with ours for the role. If you're successful we will send you a short coding task to complete in your own time. We will then invite you to a face-to-face or video interview to talk through your task and ask you some general non-technical questions. This will be the final round and, if you're successful we will get back to you with an offer.
