Technical Accounting Analyst

6 months contract at c. £500pd + £86.5pd PAYE uplift contribution

We have been an IT recruitment partner to this global banking group for several years (over 100 successful placements). We have been asked to assist in the hire of a Technical Accounting Analyst on an initial six month contract.

Key duties:

Acting as the lead Functional Analyst, this role involves functional design and hands-on configuring accounting application software to process trading revenue for entities within the banking group.

Essential skills:

Oracle Financial Accounting Hub

Oracle General Ledger / GL

Hands-on configuration

Interfacing including real-time XML based messaging

Good accounting awareness: Financial reporting regulations, month end processing, P&L accounting etc.

Ideally knowledge of trading interfaces to systems such as Murex, Calypso etc.

Ideally understanding of trade lifecycle especially FX and FX options

Accounting qualifications (such as ACCA / CIMA etc)

Understanding of technical accounting requirements on IFRS, UK-GAAP, J-GAAP for trade revenue accounting

Have experience with JIRA defect management

Experience of configuring tools such as: WebADI or ADFDI

Key duties:

Ensure Interest Rate Derivatives are accurately accounted for within the Oracle Financial Accounting hub and Oracle General ledger / GL system.

Ensure Trade events are captured and processed

Configure the General Ledger chart of accounts, calendars, periods, security rules, cross validation rules etc…

Review the trade booking, processing, and outbound trade workflow within the upstream trading applications

Review end of day accounting processes covering P&L and B/S and ensure month-end & year-end processing and reporting requirements are met

Configure the software to ensure balances can be tracked at both Subledger (FAH) and General Ledger level

Work with the developers to ensure any changes to economic details of a trade are reflected in the accounts at the appropriate time

Work closely with the technical development team and review technical design, provide guidance around application requirements and take ownership to ensure data is captured, processed and reported accurately and in a timely manner

Work with Business Analysts to ensure the solution caters for multiple accounting standards, including UK-GAAP, IFRS and J-GAAP

Configure tools such as WebADI or ADFDI to enable accounting adjustments within the subledger or general ledger

Ensure financial reporting considerations/constraints are incorporated into the trade accounting interface design and construction

Work with the project team and develop a test strategy, test plans and potentially test scripts

Ensure defects are tracked and managed, with the appropriate team assigned any defects identified during the test phases

This role may suit an individual that has held the following roles: Technical Accounting Analyst, Functional Analyst, Systems Analyst, Technical Analyst, Business Analyst.

This role is offered on a PAYE basis at £500pd. An extra PAYE uplift payment of £86.5 will be paid per day on top of the £500 day rate. £500 pd is inclusive of holiday accrual.
