The PMO/ Project Support role is to support the project delivery teams. This will involve the coordination of key projects activities and provision of support in the Programme Management Office, Portfolio and Project Managers, developing communications and maintaining project documentation.Client DetailsI am delighted to be working with the Cabinet Office to bring a PMO/ Project Support person who will join the Government Commercial Function's Commercial Capability Programme. One of the highest priorities for the Civil Service is improving commercial capability across Government, a priority being driven by the Commercial & Contract Management Capability Programme. Annual central government commercial spend on goods and services is c.£50bn and if you include the wider public sector this figure is almost £300bn - even the smallest improvements in capability can unlock massive value across the system.DescriptionProvide secretarial duties for Project/ Programme Board meetings including liaising with senior Leadership and external stakeholdersSupporting the PMO and providing assistance to the Projects within the PMO, specifically the Contract Management Capability Programme & Wider Government Bodies Project.Pro-actively assist in managing the Risk, Issues, Dependencies and Assumptions (RAID) in accordance with the RAID approach. Managing Dependencies using a Matrix methodology.Assist the PMO in compiling regular reporting from all Projects for the Programme Director and Leadership.Assist with capturing the lessons learnt during the course of the project and to ensure that learning/ good practice from projects are quickly distributed across the network to improve deliveryEnsure accurate and consistent project plans are developed and maintainedEnsure fit for purpose progress tracking mechanisms are in place at project levelWork with the PMO to generate and manage core project documentation such as project Reports and Dashboards. Ensuring that the project management methods, standards and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle across the portfolio.Lead in the development and implementation of project governance, including the collation of documentation, in accordance with Cabinet Office practices, recognising methodologies and best practice.ProfileEssentialSound background in project management is required, ideally experience of working within a PMO, Programme or large projectKnowledge project and change management processes and methodologiesExperience undertaking secretariat tasks, ideally the management of boards involving senior stakeholdersExperience working with range of stakeholders (internal and external)Experience managing a varied workload, prioritising effectively and reacting quickly and calmly to changing circumstancesStrong prioritisation skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrentlySound knowledge of Information management, data management and IT skills.
