DescriptionData Engineer - Liverpool - £39k + generous pensionIn this role you will work closely with leadership figures and have people management responsibilities for the Data Engineers. Role PurposeTo manage the organisation's data estate, ensuring that data remain confidential, integral and available, and relevant to business requirements.This role will monitor all data flows and the use/re-use of data across the organisation to ensure that systems, business analytics and business intelligence are appropriate supported.This role will manage data bases to ensure they remain secure, preventing unauthorised access, data exchange and data loss. This role will engage with users, supporting their needs and ensuring that a high quality customer-focused service is delivered.Key Responsibilities:* Deputise for the Lead Application Operations Engineer

* Lead and manage the data engineers in the organisation, supporting the operational business and projects/programmes.

* Plan, budget and account for all Data Engineering work

* Support the Data Architect in designing and implementing a Data Strategy and data architectures to deliver business priorities and objectives

* Administrate all current system databases, ensuring data quality is high

* Support the development and implementation of data governance

* Develop a Modern Analytics Ecosystem that supports business Management Information and Business IntelligenceProfileThis role requires a proactive, strategic individual who has previous experience leading a team. We are looking for the following skills:Essential skills and experience* Experience of leading engineering teams

* Experience with SQL

* Experience of monitoring databases and delivering database support services

* Experience of delivering Information Systems development projects

* Excellent communication skills

* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft OfficeDesirable skills and experience* Experience with Oracle, Ingres and Agresso

* At least one development language from X++, C#, Java, Python, PowerShell, .Net

* Experience with ODS, ADS, Data Marts, Data Warehouses and Data Lakes

* Experience with relational, Hadoop and OLAP database engines

* Familiarity with QlikView and PowerBIJob OfferThis role can be offered to applicants based within a commutable distance of Liverpool, Leeds or Sheffield. Whilst some home/remote working is available, the role cannot be offered on a fully remote basis. Salary: Starting at £39,000, annual increases up to £45k.Pension: 27% employer contribution pensionAnnual leave: 25 days holiday, rising to 30 days with serviceA range of other benefits to support your financial, personal and health wellbeing.
