We're creating a new function within our PMO.
Help us shape its future.
Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an evolving public corporation. Essentially, we're responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. With plans for a new portfolio function within our Programme Management Office (PMO), there's a great opportunity to help us build it. . Help us create an outstanding PMO - so our projects have maximum impact.
With so much depending on ONR's work, we need to be the best we can be. Our Programme Management Office oversees a wide range of exciting improvement initiatives, making sure they meet their goals and ONR's broader strategy. As Portfolio Co-ordinator, you'll be at the heart of the new function, supporting its development. Future-focused, you'll have the chance to shape what we report and how.
Day-to-day, you'll support the Portfolio Manager, making sure the PMO is governed correctly and managing the portfolio pipeline. While the majority of projects are IT-related, some involve regulation, HR and other areas. You'll manage the risk register, give stakeholders guidance and provide support as PMO protocols are introduced. You'll also be part of the Portfolio Progress Group, tracking evolution and providing the insight required to make decisions at senior levels.
With a good understanding of project and portfolio management, you're an experienced professional. You could have worked in the private or public sector - either way, you'll have a Foundation-level project or portfolio management qualification (or be happy to work towards this). With this background, you'll know about risk management and the importance of paying attention to detail. And crucially, you'll be a people person - someone who listens, engages and influences. This is important because you'll need to work with the wider team to take plans forward. Blending expertise and interpersonal skills, you'll bring everyone at ONR with you on our PMO journey.
We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £39,392 - £47,632. Furthermore, you'll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you'll receive a generous holiday entitlement.
ONR is a Public Corporation with a Mission to protect society by securing safe nuclear operations. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds with specialist inspectors to deliver our core business including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they're involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider international nuclear community.
