Systems Engineer (Battery Management Systems)Location: Surrey, UK Overview:This is an exciting opportunity for an individual experienced in Battery Management Systems in the Automotive industry looking for their next exciting career move within a world-leading company. You will be responsible for all aspects of BMS from concept to series-development, for all future EDT (Electric Drive Technology) programs ensuring they fulfil all the programme requirementsThe client is not only a household name but one of the most renowned and highly respected companies in the automotive industry to date. You will play a major part their future planning and programs while having a wealth of further progression opportunities for your career as you become an expert in your field.Your Responsibilities:Energy Storage System (ESS) knowledge and experience - includes managing software releases, specifications, DVPs, DFMEAs, Quality Concerns (Bugs)BMS ownership and deliveryBMS release planning and allocationBMS simulation (where required)BMS Supplier managementBMS Calibration releaseBMS legislation and regulation complianceDesign-focussed vehicle level meetings for BMS integrationResponsible for BMS delivery to relevant vehicle projects- to specification, on time and on budget.Influencing future BMS strategy and supporting Head of Electric Drive Technology in technology roadmaps and attributes.Working within, and influencing, the Vehicle Programme & Engineering Management teams to guarantee that the Electric Drive Technology department responsibilities collectively deliver the whole vehicle specification targets.Working with Supply Chain Management to ensure delivery of the BMS on schedule for all phases of prototype, pilot, pre-production and production build.Working with the Controls Department to ensure delivery of ISO 26262 requirements and platform software deliveries for all phases of the vehicle programmes.Working with the EDT CAE group to develop, verify and validate electric drive architectures, component duty cycles and other support functions such as generation of component durability cycles.Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviewsProvide support on BMS technical risk management to ensure project delivery, optimised vehicle performance and delivery of electric drive system attributes. What are they looking for?Good technical knowledge & experience of BMS design, test & production deliveryAppreciation of design / implementation of embedded systems such as Battery Management Systems (BMS), communication protocols, software, control architectures, diagnostics, functional safety, etc.Some understanding of HV battery safety and vehicle HV safety.USome understanding of Control Systems, ISO 26262 standards, and Simulation modelling and techniquesSome experience of testing with MiL, SiL, HiL (Hardware in the Loop) and Rig systems to prove integration quality.Experience of executing BMS DVPs, FMEADesign / implementation experience of vehicle embedded systems, notably:System requirements capture (using tools such as DOORs, etc.)Communication protocols (CAN, LIN etc.)Diagnostics implementation and validationVehicle data logging, calibration and data analysis using INCA, Vector CANAPE or similar.
