Job Role

In this role you will initially be involved in the daily operation of the Quidco platform which is a set of microservices running on Kubernetes and AWS serverless technologies such as Lambda and Fargate, additionally you'll be monitoring and supporting underlying infrastructures such as the persistence layer and messaging queues. 

What you will do in this role 

Support engineers using the Kubernetes cluster and deploying new services and applications as the application and development evolve.

Ensuring that the development teams have the correct infrastructure and tooling required for the entire delivery and support cycles of the program.

Ensuring that products delivered are supportable, cost-effective, and meet the strategic business needs

Alignment of architectural solutions with product teams within Quidco, including collaboration on solution design to ensure fit-for-purpose end-to-end solutions

Working with the business and technical stakeholders to understand functional and technical requirements and constraints, and to reflect this in an infrastructure solution.

Extend, improve and implement automation via CI/CD pipelines and IAC. 

Identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to our build, deployment and production process.

Ongoing analysis of the underlying infrastructure, either it is development or production, concerning security, automation and application architectures and suggest improvement of existing capabilities.

Be part of a DevOps on-call support rota covering the supported platforms

Some of the technologies include Aurora RDS, SQS, Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ and more.

What will make you successful 

You will be an expert in AWS, Kubernetes and Docker technologies. You know container orchestration tools such as helm and logging/monitoring tools to support a full-scale production operating cycle. You will be responsible for building and improving our applications Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines. Working within the DevOps and remain up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

The successful candidate should have the following experience and skills:

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as Computer Science or related work experience 

Any certification will be considered an advantage (but not required).

Experience with deploying open source software within a Linux platform using continuous integration methodologies, tooling and techniques. e.g. GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub, etc.

Experience with automation/configuration management using Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible or equivalent.

Experience in cloud-based technologies and infrastructure design, including AWS technologies (including EKS, ECS, RDS, Lambda, DynamoDB, EC2 S3, IAM, CloudFront, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Route53, Load Balancing).

A working understanding of programming languages such as TypeScript, Node.js, Bash, PHP, and Python.
