You will be building systems that deliver data to analysts, customers and products in the correct form via automated pipelines that apply leading edge technologies such as deep learning, distributed computing and serverless architectures.Your technical work will be varied, ranging from prototyping activities, to design and implementation of data pipeline systems and software. This will be expedited by DevOps-style continuous improvement and deployment in an agile working environment.Key Responsibilities:Reporting to the Principal Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of production quality software systems, with a focus on data pipelines.Prototype, design, build, and test production data pipelines and associated software systems.Maintain and continuously improve production data pipelines and associated software systems, development platforms and environments.Liaise with customers and other internal engineering teams to help ensure successful integration and adoption of delivered systems.Assist with building Data Engineering capability, good practice and Agency standardsKey Skills / Requirements:Degree in Computer Science or in a scientific or engineering discipline.Experience of working as a Data Engineer, or in a related technical role.Understand geospatial problem domains.Pick up new technologies (in areas such as Deep Learning) and become familiar with new datasets.Conduct rigorous system testing using industry standard tools.Develop against cloud platforms.Experience of designing, building, testing and deploying production data pipelinesProficiency in Python plus at least one other language.Proficiency in SQL.Proficiency in data modelling and databases.Experience of working with geospatial data, and theoretical knowledge of the geospatial problem domain.Experience of building containerised applications using Docker.Familiarity with administration of cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) self-service environments.Experience of Information Security and secure software development.Experience of version control ProfileDegree in Computer Science or in a scientific or engineering discipline.Experience of working as a Data Engineer, or in a related technical role.Understand geospatial problem domains.Pick up new technologies (in areas such as Deep Learning) and become familiar with new datasets.Conduct rigorous system testing using industry standard tools.Develop against cloud platforms.Experience of designing, building, testing and deploying production data pipelinesProficiency in Python plus at least one other language.Proficiency in SQL.Proficiency in data modelling and databases.Experience of working with geospatial data, and theoretical knowledge of the geospatial problem domain.Experience of building containerised applications using Docker.Familiarity with administration of cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) self-service environments.Experience of Information Security and secure software development.Experience of version controlJob OfferOpportunity to join a major UK Government AgencyOpportunity to work on major data / digital transformation programmes
