The IPA is the government's centre of expertise for infrastructure and major projects. We sit at the heart of government, reporting to the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury. Our cadre of experts builds professional project leadership capacity and capability, ready to deploy across government and deliver world-class results. The Function, Profession and Standards Team sets and drives continuing improvement in functional standards of project delivery; builds professional capability and capacity; delivers world-class leadership and learning programmes; and provides leadership to the project delivery profession across government. About the role Joining the Function, Profession and Standards Team, you will contribute to the establishment of the Government Projects Academy (GPA), a single, virtual hub enabling project delivery professionals across government to access standards, accreditation and training materials. Specifically, you will utilise your own project delivery and relationship-building expertise to drive the development, roll-out and management of the Government Online Skills Tool (GOST) and Project Delivery Capability Framework (PDCF), alongside a new professional accreditation and project delivery learning curriculum.A key challenge is to promote awareness of these various tools and frameworks, alongside the wider GPA, and to engage a range of internal and external stakeholders across Government. Expect to work closely with other members of the Function, Profession & Standards team, particularly the Leadership & Learning and Resource and Talent team, as well as the wider user community.
About you You're likely to have a deep understanding of project delivery frameworks, tools and competencies, allied to an ability to think and plan strategically for building capability. Experience of overseeing and directly implementing products and services on a large scale is essential. With well-developed interpersonal skills, you'll be ready to influence a range of stakeholders from users to senior leaders. Excellent training delivery and presentation skills are essential, as are strong supplier management skills to resolve licencing and technical matters. Technically savvy, you'll have good insights into cloud-based IT systems. A project delivery qualification such as APM Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2/MSP Practitioner is desirable.
