Dreaming for tomorrow is about more than ideas and ambitions. We're already building the next generation of vehicles, using repurposed and brand-new technology and techniques. We're doing more than dream, we're creating the future of mobility and automotive for years to come.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We are looking for someone to help us realise our business vision of a cloud-native "Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics system and products" that will provide our customers, suppliers and partners with seamless connected services delivered through an industry-leading global platform.

We are looking for someone who will work closely with stakeholders to define and evolve a system architecture that meets both functional and operational needs and, importantly, provides direction and support to our agile delivery teams. You will be a valued member of our Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics team, contributing to the strategic direction of the technology and solutions delivered.

As the principal architect, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the senior solution architects to enable them to work effectively as a team in the timely delivery of consistently high-quality architecture artefacts that will enable the software engineering teams. You will also ensure that architecture risk is properly managed and that key design decisions are effectively governed. You will provide oversight of the system architecture as a whole to ensure end-to-end architectural integrity in the realisation of use cases and the ability to realise reliability, scalability and maintainability requirements.

As a solution architect, you will be responsible for defining and communicating the structure and dynamics of a solution sufficient to meet the requirements of the various key stakeholders. You will be responsible for identifying and highlighting architectural risk and providing recommendations for mitigation. You will be responsible for enabling the agile delivery teams to work effectively through a clear understanding of the separation of concerns and system dependencies. Working in close collaboration with the engineering teams through the tech leads, you will evolve the architecture as detail is laid down and through architectural prototyping as necessary.

This role sits within the Vehicle Engineering centre in Gaydon.

The role is responsible for:

Continually collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure needs will be met in the architecture

Providing direction through the definition of target and transition architectures to satisfy the perspectives of different stakeholders

Identifying technical and architectural risk and defining the solution options for mitigation

Identifying the need for key design decisions (KDDs) and managing their path through architecture governance

Validating KDDs through the execution of architectural prototypes in collaboration with software engineering

Evolving the system architecture based on new demand and architectural prototyping

Continually exploring and sharing technology opportunities that will improve the physical architecture and help drive further value for the business

Continually defining and evolving reference architectures and design patterns that drive standardisation, architectural reuse and architecture development productivity
