Inside IR35Location:St Catherine Lodge, Wokingham, UK Department/Practice: IT Job Purpose and primary objectives: Key responsibilities (please specify if the position is an individual one or part of a team): Individual Key Skills/Knowledge: ? Perform proactive maintenance and monitoring, and updating of Linux estate. ? Use change, problem, release management toolset.  ? Liaise with 3rd party service centres/engineers as required.  ? Provide technical analysis.  ? Adopt, aspire, strive to use 'Best in Class' standards.  ? Engage and assist all technical leads and colleagues. ? Perform application / system's transition processes to Standby or Site failover capabilities. ? End to end Problem ownership and management.  Monitor work flow management tools and react to logged tasks/incidents and requests Accountable: ? Support, updating and management of RedHat Enterprise Linux (Version 6 onwards) ? General understanding Network protocols and topologies ? Proven methodical and positive approach to problemsolving ? Experience of working effectively both individually and as part of highly productive small to medium sized teams in an Infrastructure/Application ITIL based support environment ? Experience of business-critical real-time systems, ensuring high levels of availability through your direct actions. ? Demonstration of accountability to see issues through to successful resolutions. ? Experience of producing documentation for a non-technical/technical audience ? Strong verbal and written skills ? A desire to expand one's knowledge into other domains and think outside of the box. ? Flexible approach ? Candidate must be able to pass required security vetting process. ? Understand the impact of both security and external regulations that impact operational technology systems (CNI). Experience required: Technical: ? Familiarity with most Linux system administration tools and processes. ? Responsible for Disk Management using LVM, RAID Configuration, and Hardware ? replacement ? Finding Root Cause Analysis and solve incidents. ? Setting up new Linux boxes to create a distributed environment setup using VMware ? hosts. ? File/Directory Management, Soft link/Hard link, Mounting File Systems & Drives, HP ? Logical Volume Management ? Monitored system activity and events like System Performance Monitoring CPU, ? Memory, Network and Disk Utilization ? The customization of Root File system for target platforms based on the Linux file ? system. ? File system and OS related development under Linux platform. ?  Configuring and maintaining the Linux kernels. Personal ? Excellent stakeholder management at all levels ? Ability to challenge senior stakeholders and say ‘no’ politely ? Leadership qualities: ability to mentor junior personnel and provide guidance on work packages ? Ability to work with little or no guidance ? Attention to detail in all aspects of the analysis and ability to draw conclusion quickly in a limited timeframe ? Ability to balance multiple tasks without a negative impact on quality ? Experience of working effectively both individually and as part of highly productive teams in an Infrastructure/Application ITIL based support environment   ? Appreciation of business-critical real-time systems   ? Strong verbal and written skills   ? Candidate must be able to pass National Grid’s background vetting process. Duration of the Assignment: 1 year (atleast) Candidate needs to have Mandatory 5 Years in UK/ SC clearance Person Specification: I.e.
