We are searching for an experienced 3rd Line Network Engineer for an exciting and growing business based in Devon.The position is predominately home-based during the pandemic, but you will need to attend site in Exeter at least one day per week throughout. It is anticipated that a hybrid approach to office and home-based working will be adopted in the future, post pandemic. This is a technical and hands-on role where you will be working as part of our clients Network Team, responsible for the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of a wide range of network and security systems on behalf of both internal and external clients.You will be delivering multiple concurrent tasks with varying technologies in an exciting competitive environment, with exposure to a wide range of emerging technologies.You will operate and support all networking and related infrastructure, provisioned both internally and on behalf of customers. The post holder will also work closely with the Information Security Team, assisting and advising on improvements and capabilities which assist the continuous improvement of the security posture.The role will involve:Evaluate, design and implement transformational change to the network infrastructure.Keep up to date with technology trends and assess improvements that can be made to the network infrastructure.Work with Application Delivery, Information Security and Infrastructure teams to consult on networking and security design and optimisation.Consult on and implement complex routing and connectivity types including Azure (Express-Route), VPN, SDWAN, etc.Technical operation of the LAN/WAN including configuration & deployment, monitoring, maintenance & troubleshooting, auditing and log management and upgrade and support of all network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN.Maintain and provide technical engineering services for local and remote site network infrastructures including the ability to design, implement and maintain network, security, wireless and voice technologies and solutions.Serve as initial point of contact for information security inquiries and audits from both internal and external parties.

About YouWe are looking for someone who is self-motivated with extensive experience in designing and building network solutions, in order to drive the network and security strategy forward.The successful candidate will have previously held a technical support and implementation role, with experience providing 3rd line support in a similar field. You will actively contribute towards the implementation and support of enterprise network technologies in a production environment and provide periodic out of hours support as part of an on-call support team.Strong technical grounding in a wide range of technologies and IT services.Excellent troubleshooting skills - able to analyse problems and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery.Good understanding of the commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within network and security operations.A varied IT related background is desirable, multi data centre enterprise environments with branch office deployments, virtualisation, Cloud, SaaS/IaaS/PaaS, including but not limited to AWS and Azure.Extensive knowledge of Cisco - CCNA or CCNP would be a bonus as would any knowledge of FortiGate Firewalls (not essential).You will also be required to undertake on-call support duties on a 24/7 rota after circa 6-9 months in the role. This will fall in line with the team's standard out of hours support practices. You will additionally be required to undertake callouts which includes weekends and late evenings on weekdays, as required, once up-to-speed with everything.The position is predominately home-based during the pandemic, but you will need to attend site in Exeter at least one day (1) per week. It is anticipated that a hybrid approach to office and home-based working will be adopted in the future, post pandemic.
