We are searching for an additional Infrastructure Engineer, a position focusing on providing the smooth running of a number of IT hardware systems for an exciting and expanding technology business based in the heart of Devon.The successful candidate will work as part of a team, managing multiple concurrent tasks with varying infrastructure technologies - you will be required to undertake on-call support duties on a 24/7 rota after circa 6-9 months in the role. This will fall in line with the team's standard out of hours support practices. You will additionally be required to undertake callouts which includes weekends and late evenings on weekdays as required once up-to-speed with everything.The position is predominately home-based during the pandemic, but you will need to attend site in Exeter at least one day (1) per week. It is anticipated that a hybrid approach to office and home-based working will be adopted in the future, post pandemic. Main tasks of the job are listed below; Physical and Virtual Infrastructure AdministrationManage physical server and storage infrastructure to ensure all systems function as required and meet the targeted Service Level Agreements.To ensure internal and external applications and associated infrastructure are functioning correctly, by undertaking proactive monitoring and analysis, resolving problems and escalating as appropriate.Work with other Analysts in maintaining Information systems in accordance with agreed priorities and standards.Keep documentation up-to-date and, where required, assist in the provision of training and support to users; Ensure housekeeping procedures adhered too.Investigate user requirements for application and infrastructure changes, design and implement appropriate solutions.Systems Development Regularly analyse systems to ensure that they are capable for future planned capacity and functionality.Support IT development processes in the provision of new of improved products and services.Provide input on Technical Architecture in order to continuously improve all elements of the IT Infrastructure.Actively look for opportunities to innovate and improve services.Contribute to major systems projects providing input into Systems Development.Conduct development and implementation tasks for systems including project planning, analysis, designing, programming, testing and debugging.Conduct analysis of the systems requirements of the organisation producing requirement specifications as needed and undertaking evaluations of software options.Assist with the ongoing troubleshooting and development of systems.To keep up to date with changes and advances in the IT industry & systems development.Infrastructure SupportEnsure the smooth functioning of the IT infrastructure - liaise with 1st and 2nd line teams, application support, developers, product managers, suppliers and other analysts as required to this end.Support in responding to escalated users calls, diagnosing and deciding on the most appropriate solution; to liaise with the system suppliers or colleagues to ensure their speedy resolution.To take any actions required in ensuring the availability of key applications.Work with other analysts to identify repeating incidents and escalate into the Problem Management log.We are ideally looking for an experienced candidate with in-depth technical support and implementation knowledge, someone who has progressed from 1st and 2nd line support into 3rd line support, with at least 2 years' experience providing 3rd level support in a similar field.Experienced Required;Ability to analyse problems, determine appropriate solutions.In-depth experience in technical support encompassing varying hardware and software platforms.Windows OS maintenance, including software rollout procedures, Active Directory Security, Group Policy configuration, LDAP configuration, Antivirus setup and management, Backup software setup and management.Linux OS maintenance, including software rollout procedures, Backup software setup and management.Experience on providing helpdesk style technical support to internal and/or external users.VMWare vSphere Administration skills.Storage Technologies such - EMC VNX, NetAPP, IBM, Nimble, EqualLogic.Ability to understand user requirements and translate into technical solutions.Varied Windows and Linux Operating Systems administration skills.Networking Skills including LAN / WAN and Internet, Strong TCP/IP skills.Active Directory, DNS, DHCP experience.Microsoft 365 and Exchange email technologies.High Availability / Fault Tolerance / Software Load balancing strategies / Hardware Infrastructure Fault Tolerance experience.The client is offering an excellent package with benefits including, a good holiday allowance (25 days + 8 bank holidays), Pension, Healthcare, Insurances and much, much more!
