About us The Network team play a crucial role in ensure the University's network is secure and meets the demands of students and staff in terms of performance and technological change. They manage a large wired and wireless network estate across three main campuses and work with colleagues across UWE to design and develop solutions that maximise the return on investment. The University has recently implemented a new firewall, and is in the process of rolling out improvements to network authentication to support hybrid learning and BYOD. About the role The Senior Network Engineer role is to provide best practice technical expertise in the operation and improvement of the University's network infrastructure and related technologies. A significant proportion of the role will be developing designs and implementing enhancements to the current infrastructure, as well as acting as the escalation point for significant incidents, and ongoing problems. This is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the successful delivery of the University's Strategic Programmes About you

The successful candidate will have experience of an enterprise scale IT Infrastructure, including a good working knowledge and experience of critical network components, including firewalls, core and edge switches, load balancers, and Wi-Fi controllers. They will be used to evaluating and delivering solutions and proposing enhancements in order to provide the best possible network services at UWE. Further information This is a permanent post and is full-time working 37 hours per week. This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time. The University's normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
